...and most WWII landings consisted of 'landing where they ain't' which begs the Q of why the contemporary OTH doctrine gets derided sometimes for advocating the same. Nobody really goes frontal if it can be avoided. For the USMC in WWII, for every Gavutu, Tarawa, Peleliu, Iwo, there were four-five Guad, Munda, Cp Gloucester, Tinian, Guam, Okinawa etc. unopposed landings. The army did the same, with fewer bad days than the USMC, in the Pacific.

[edit to add] BTW, the IJN/JA did corps sized amphib landings in 1940, on the Canton coast. The USSR did training landings of almost the same scale prewar, but had few options in the war. The USMC had ideas prewar but no skills compared to these. Says something for on-the-job training!

I dont like use prepare as i think its overly powerful already .. and the Japanese did successful invasions at short notice.

No..., they made some successful unopposed landings at short notice. Invasions have opposition, and the Japanese record in this regard is poor.

2nd Wake landing , Milne Bay . They didnt attempt many ...as its risky. On a land hex a night infiltration landing could nearly always land at 5 places and have a bridge head in the morning - Even if the hex is occupied.

Both Canton and Shanghai were multiple division opposed landings. However  unlike island defences most coastal defences had light beach defences and a counter attack type defence plan.  If you restrict opposed landings to trying to land on France 44 or a 4 km island  your going to have a pretty small sample.
