Another Video Released for Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge!

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Another Video Released for Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge!

Post by SeanD »

The first tutorial video for this highly anticipated wargame is now available

Matrix Games, Slitherine (www.slitherine.com) and Panther Games (www.panthergames.com) are pleased to release to the public the first tutorial video for the highly anticipated new World War II strategy game, Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge.

This new release brings wargamers the pinnacle of historical accuracy and realism in operational command on the subject of one of the most intense and important engagements of the Second World War. Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge is wrapped in a very playable and modern interface and includes an extremely capable AI opponent as well as editing tools to make your own maps, scenarios and units.

The first tutorial video, entitled Getting Started, gives gamers the basics on getting a scenario up and running, and accessing all the information a commander needs to lead his forces to victory! This is the first of several tutorial videos we will be releasing and is an introduction to the interface and information management tools of Battles from the Bulge. To see how the tutorial battle proceeds, stay tuned for future video releases.

The new Getting Started video is available for download from the official product page.

For an overview of the game concepts, please see the Game Concepts video released earlier, which is available here.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge lets gamers battle it out in some of the most bitter and ferocious battles on the Western Front. The unprecedented research and overall realism makes this game a superb mix of fun and historical accuracy! This video gives an introduction to the interface and detail built into Battles from the Bulge and should be viewed in combination with the earlier Game Concepts video and as a prelude to future tutorial videos.”

Assess, Plan, Order and React – The Decisions are Yours!

Acclaimed developer Panther Games brings us to the bitter cold of Western Europe during the Winter of 1944 with Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge. Although the Battle of the Bulge is ground that has been visited by wargamers before, it has never been done with this level of fidelity and historical accuracy. The most advanced and realistic model of command decision-making implemented to date in a commercial wargame, combined with thorough historical research on the battlefields and forces involved in this campaign sets Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge apart from the competition.

Set during the hard fighting of the Battle of the Bulge, Command Ops lets gamers assess, plan, order and react at the operational level just like a real Corps, Division and Brigade commander. Hundreds of hours of gameplay await armchair generals who will be challenged to fight their way across 27 scenarios that stretch from the initial German surprise offensive to the powerful Allied counter-attack.

Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge also sports some of the most advanced and impressive AI ever devised in an operational-level wargame! It is your choice whether to manage every detail of your army, or have the friendly AI manage the war on a lower level while you plan the larger scale maneuvers designed to make short work of your enemy. Just as a historical commander, you can choose where you need to step in and when you need to stand back and let your subordinates do their jobs.

The enemy AI will use its skill to launch well-timed and coordinated strikes as it probes your lines for weakness while realistically reacting to your movements! In addition, for the enthusiastic mod community awaiting Command Ops, powerful tools like MapMaker and ScenMaker allow for the creation of maps and scenarios further adding to already near limitless replayability.

Newcomer to the series and the video looks like it will help in understanding some of the tools/UI faster. I watched it twice already. Would there be anymore forthcoming in the next few days, weeks or months?
Thanks for the efforts.

I'd help upload the tutorial videos on youtube as I did for the Game Concepts video, but the shareware program I used to trim the videos losslessly expired [:'(] (I think it was called Machete or something). But anyway, hopefully those should all be available with the demo anyway.

Hi,

Yup... the concept video and that Getting Started one are superb... very high quality and do show a depth to BftB that I never realised was there with earlier versions of the engine.

All the best,
Kip.
