Define "late 1942" No SierraJuliet allowed

Post by tocaff »

Can anyone define what late 1942 means concerning USN CVs going from 27 fighters to carrying 36? All of my CVs have the -4 Wildcats so the wings fold and the game has hit November 1, 1942. When will they increase squadron size from 27 to 36 planes? Is there something I have to do or is the change automatic?

You do have to return to port for the change to happen.  I don't recall if the ship has to be disbanded or not.

On the air unit screen it will tell you when it is scheduled to change size in the upper left hand corner.

My CVs are in PH, disbanded, and nothing happens.

The information in the upper left of the squadron screen is in AE, not WITP.

Over 20000 supplies at PH? Main HQ at PH? If so they should have upgraded.

Try transfering the planes off the ship to the airfield, that might do the trick.

Squadrons have to be set to allow replacements.

Yes allowed replacements and I believe its either 7/42 or 10/42 for the 27 to 36 plane upgrade.

That's just great because PH has about 800K of supplies, HQs, I'm set to allow replacements and still nothing happens.  I'm trying to put a squadron ashore to see if that helps.

Not having 9 more fighters per CV is very, very big and I'm very, very aggravated about this mess.

I'd like to know if somebody found any solution for this.
I also have the same situation: I play allies, the year is 1943, some CVs have upgraded squadrons, some seems not upgradable. I don't know why.
The sit in a port (Noumea) with thousands of supplies, accepting replacements and nothing happens.

There is no such thing as a historically accurate strategy game. Every game stops being historically accurate from the very first move player do. First unit that moves ahistorically, first battle with non-historical results, mean we ride in unknown.

I fixed the problem as I stupidly pushed the CENPAC HQs to Midway instead of leaving it at Pearl Harbor.  When your CVs are at PH along with CENPAC and lots (over 20K) supplies you'll get up to the 36 from the 27 in the fighter squadrons.

The game is a constant learning process and I certainly feel stupid at times.

have only CV Essex xith 36 fighters squadrons, and trying to upgrade too. So you say it's Centpac HQ needed ?
Will try in 2 months when CV get back in Pearl.
