What's with The History Channel??
I know. I know. They haven't been the most accurate about some things in history but they may want to think about changing their name.
Pawn Stars? Ax Men? Gang Land? Ice Road Truckers? Aliens?
What the heck? How about some history?

RE: What's with The History Channel??
I do not think they will ever go back. They have a new hotshot programming woman and the new shows have made History Channel a top ten cable channel. I watch The Military Channel more than the history channel now. The Military Channel bascially shows repeats of History Channel material that the History Channel no longer makes.

I kind of like Pawn Stars. Most of the other stuff I can do without.

There's only so many people that enjoy watching stuff about Hitler and WWII. I guess now they don't have to rename it to the Hitler Channel. But I agree with you guys... It's taking the same direction as MTV did back in the day.

I watch the Military Channel too. But the History channels is so bad now I can't even watch "On Demand" shows because all they have now is reality TV programs.
Every once in awhile I get lucky and see shows about Hannibal or Alexander but it's a rare day.

Me too. I now watch the Military and History International channels for my historical "fix". I've not watched the regular "History" channel in at least four years, which is sad on several different levels.

I believe that there's actually an international version that has better programming.
BTW, I've deleted the HC-USA from my remote control playlist.
Doesn't even come through when I'm surfing.

I've seen more history on the weather channel as of late.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

There is a new series "America The Story of Us" that looks like it might be interesting coming later this month. It is shown on a web page next to "Ancient Aliens". I guess that's history.
I wonder if there will be another Battle 360? I liked that series.
I usually watch Military Channel now though.

I enjoy Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars, but I also agree that they present some very weird programming for The History Channel.

RE: What's with The History Channel??
The main problem is that all these shows sooner or later pop up on other channels too .... is that TV spam?
RE: What's with The History Channel??
Every once in a while History Channel does have some decent stuff. A few weeks ago they aired a show about the state and how they got their shapes, which was very entertaining. Military Channel is getting boring as I have seen all the Hitler stuff, all the top tens, WW I stuff, and most of the WW2 stuff. History International has been interesting of late.
Lucky for you, tonight it's just me

I prefer watching the "Military History Channel". Military history channel shows all military history all the time, with next to no commercials. It's not the actual military channel, but a branch of the regular history channel(like History international)

RE: What's with The History Channel??
Hey if they change Pawn Stars to Porn Stars maybe they can even make the top 5 cable channel's and there must be some history hiding in there somewhere. [8|]
I'm not real high on cable either, but when I have talked with a few that have FIOS they seem to have unhappy customers as well, as does Direct TV, Dish network etc. I'd love to hear an unbiased discussion of their merits however as I have both cable and Fios available in my area.
