And how are those conferencers going to get any conferencing done with you hogging the bandwidth all the time trying to get a new page or a faber?
Oh. Congratulations on being employed.

Thanks Pas. I'm still expecting you to put in a good word for me with the law school, though. [:'(]

EZ, chick'n'bone, another thread got locked for linking to that. Frankly (and I'm not really Frank), the Onion has gotten a little over the top in recent times with profanity. I like their more subtle, but sharp, pieces.ORIGINAL: Chickenboy
Hmmm...you guys hear about this stuff going on? Note: 'rough' language used in video.

On another point, study of linguistic science identifies only limited areas of the American midwest that are devoid of an "accent." California has no definable population that can be studied for the purpose.
Of course, people in those Midwestern areas without an accent also tend to lack smarts - and they seem unreasonably afraid of tornadoes, which makes them oddly psychotic...

Well, as we say among broke people, maybe a word from low acquaintances in high places would reduce the bill. [:D]

Holy sweet rat pazooties !! Somebody in Chile turned my head back about 40years, and put on a record (yes, a 33 rpm vinyl record) of Fred Neil. Was a session recording of Fred in NY, just after Bleeker & MacDougal. He wrote the “Dolphins”, so forget that Harry Nilsson Hollywood crap, here’s the song from the source; brother Fred in the depths of his first heroin depression – just after Bleeker/Tear Down the Walls. The video is Hollywood Cali rat poop; Fred was a Miami boy, so ignore the visuals.
God, does this bring back memories.

Well, it's 0'dark:30 down here, and we're drunk as skunks on pisco. Just spent a half hour doing "Bag I'm In" and "Dade County Jail" and I'm exhausted. These people are so cool. Their idea of American music is Fred Neil, Vince Martin, Dave Van Ronk, Rick Von Schmit, Mark Spoelstra, damn, I died and went to heaven and came back as a 20 year old in Chile. Man, I was digging up songs I even forgot I used to know.
Going to die now. There's some trestle tables where we can spread blankets but we have to get up early to go back to camp. Not looking forward to that. Probably won't die just now, but probably wish I could in the morning. We got the Inferno (class V) to do, oh groin.

My favorite still is the trade war called "The war of Jenkin's ear" (by the British). [:D]
Find it; called by spanish (and i learn it like that) "war of Asiento" (from the name of the kind of monopole made by the spanish about the trade with their colonies).
1739 -1748.
In 1742 started war of Austrian succession, that "swallowed" the War of Asiento, wich ended in 1748.
Edit: to be precise
-war of spanish succession 1701-1714
-war of Asiento (Jenkins ear)1739-1748
melted in
-war of austrian succession 1740-1748
-Seven year war 1756-1763
-war of bavarian succession (or "potato's war") 1778-1779.
But i seem to remenber there were many "minor" conflict in between.

Dude---I know that. Actually the best explaination of Yankee/Rebel/Californian came from a Movie. A Tom Cruise movie , may God help us. "Days of Thunder". When the pit chief tries to Quantify the new driver , a californian , for a southern pit crew member! [:D]
"If you're from California, you're not a Yankee. You're not really anything."
We like it that way. Incidentally. Did you know that Californians are the only Americans who dont have an accent?
As a memeber of Jimmy Carter's southern contingent said upon Carter's moving into the White House "we no longer have an accent, you do!".
One might argue that Californians don't have an accent , they have speach impediments. But When I was in the UK I most definately had pointed out to me that Californians do have a accent. There was a Paul Mason wine commercial there making fun of it. The students on exchange from UC Orange that were with us we not amused! [:D]

Like I'm going to have so flippin much time?[:D] That's why I play small scenarios. It's five minutes a turn. [:)]ORIGINAL: Onime No Kyo
I was thinking about it. Since I got the offer my mood had definitely improved by lightyears. But I'm not sure how much time I would be able to devote to the game when I have a new position to learn.
Ha! In a small scenario, what would otherwise have been an embarrassing screw-up turns into complete defeat. [:D]
It only hurts for a short time. 2 Weeks invested versus 2 years. [:D]

Well, since Steve vehemently opposes being a dude......
That's because only in California is being a dude is a good thing. [:D]
