Cmon, Mike, it was the times. Women used cigarettes as a way of expressing liberation, attitude, and sophistication. They didn't know any better.

My ma was, believe it or not, the spittin' image of this woman (who was going to be the next redheaded femme fatale after Maureen O'hara). I've got pictures of her in her younger days, all dolled up like Dorothy Lamour and dancing on a table in a downstate Illinois club with Count Basie or Nat King Cole on the stage.

Ma was a real dish. What she saw in my old man I'll never know.
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

She probably saw you...and didn't recoil in horror. That's certainly a good woman! [:D]

I beg your pardon. My mother was not a horror. A little loose maybe on a Saturday night, but...

Me either, Mike. There are three things that absolutely destroy my interest in a woman, and smoking (along with other drug use) is one of 'em. The others are tattoos and body and face piercings (the tongue stud thing just frosts my cookies, and that bizarre hardware you run into in private areas heads me for the door, as well).

I'm sure she was not. Marrying your father with you in the future certainly qualifies her for some sort of sainthood.

Nice one Halsey...can't place her yet but I will. I'm a closet Cid Charisse fan by the way. And I'm 44. Something about the 40/50's era look.

Late 50's to early 60's.
She's wearing real fur around her neck.
Can't do that anymore, PETA would be throwing paint on her, in protest.[;)][:D]

More a fan of Lucille Balls comedy than her look but that picture does do her justice.

I thought we were sticking to 1930's and 1940's gals... Senta Berger did films much later.
So much WitP and so little time to play.... :-(
