Post by Rogue187 »

I just started back up with WitPAE after using the auto update on the launch screen and have started the grand campaign. For what it is worth, I am now up to 12 midget sub attacks tried against the Allies. Not one has worked. I have decided to keep trying until the first successful attack. Then I am going to stop [:)]

The AI uses them, I have had attacks against a number of ports in India, Ceylon & Australia.

Havent done much except to make me panic.

Even though none of my attacks have been sucessful, I have not lost one of the mother subs. I am starting to feel guilty about sending these midget sub guys to what seems to be a certain death.

is there any hint about what is the optimal situation for midget sub ops? for example, better a small port or large port? I'd guess small port = less defenses, and if a large number of ships are docked not all of them will fit in the harbor proper.

Specifically, a really evil opponent would make use of these tons of new auxiliary ships (yacht patrols, AMc and the like)that he has available in most major ports as midget cats hunting the midget mice nibbling at the cheese. Yes, in principle they can be sent to other ports along with other ships as range-extenders in escort missions, but it takes time to distribute them... I know what I am talking about... [;)] or am I ? In any case, that would suggest crowded minor ports.

35 days is a long time if an important ship is needed NOW!

Hmmm, I've only had the one scripted attack at PH on 12/7/41, but I did get a "something is caught in the submarine net" message off of Auckland a few days ago in the game.  I wonder if that was a midget?

Well, it's not a bleedin' manatee. You may want to send a virtual diver down to check that out.

I've had a grand total of one successful midget sub attack-against the AI, I was able to put a TT into Tennessee on December 7. I haven't tried much against lesser / less-defended harbors, but that seems to be the way to go.
