training carrier air groups while carrier is docked

Post by sven6345789 »

If you set your carrier squadrons on training but leave them on the carrier while the carrier is docked (i mean in drydock, being repaired, or if it is disbanded in port), do they train?
Or do you have to take them off the carrier to train them?

They will train while in port on carriers.
They just don't undertake flying operations.

So fighers on carriers on CAP when the carrier is in port won't defend the port & ships?

Carriers normally had to steam into the wind to get enough wind to allow aircraft to take enough in the short length of deck allowed.

That is not a practical proposition whilst docked. In reality a carrier would fly off its air arm before docking. You can simulate this by transferring the air units to an airfield. The fighters will then fly cap if they are set up to do so.

Docked Air Combat TFs have never flown aircraft as far as I can recall. Can't imagine why that would change.

Put it out to sea and it will fly aircraft at much reduced efficiency (I assume that hasn't change either).
