two Blind Mice sprior (IJN) v rroberson (Allies) GC

Post by sprior »

Okay, in best wargaming tradition now that the box is open it's time to layout the map, punch the conters and see what happens. I might even read the rule book.

I'll try to post lots of screenies as things happen. Look upon this as a learning experience for us all. If you see me do something stupid please let me know. Hopefully Turn 1 will be ready soon...

Did an historical first turn, just to get the ball rolling. One thing I did notice was that the save file sizes are a lot bigger in AE than WiTP, starting at 2.1Mb as opposed to WiTP's 1.2 or so.

Just finished running turn1.

I've seen Kate's torpedoes hit with no explosion
Zeroes abort due to engine failure
Nates shoot down Buffaloes and
Buffaloes abort due to control failure
Prince of Wales reported as a Tennessee class BB by a plane attacking her
Planes attacking from port and ahead
Air to air combat after bombing runs
But I never seen an elephant fly

Okay, in best wargaming tradition now that the box is open it's time to layout the map, punch the conters and see what happens. I might even read the rule book.

I'll try to post lots of screenies as things happen. Look upon this as a learning experience for us all. If you see me do something stupid please let me know. Hopefully Turn 1 will be ready soon...

In WiTP when you couldn't add up your TF would just sit there "Loading Troops" until you realised basic maths was beyond your grasp. At leadt WiTP let you work it out for yourself. But not AE oh, it tells you you're dumb, right up front.

I like this. When you form a new TF you're only presented those items you can actually form in that port.

As the Japanese you're going to have to get a grip on your shipping. Those now rare ducks, the APs are scattered hither, thither and yon. Who though, "Hmm, invade amphibiously but leave the ships that are actually good at it scattered over the Pacific."? No wonder they lost.

Okay, 2 things to note here. First the world's most useless aircraft factory building 0 planes. Secondly (and another nice thing) those factories doing research actually tell you when they will come on line!
