If you are building the AF up in Port Moresby, that would be the best place. The AFs in DEI are too bad, to operate your big 4E bombers from there.
But your Mitchells and Bolos could well harm some shipping of invasions, but it's not without risk, if the Japanese are shutting your airfields.
Then again, some more bomber-power in the Indian theatre couldn't harm, because you will receive a lot more bombers from the east coast, than you do from India.

Well, at least you don't seem to have lost as many troops as were historically.

What are the chances for damaging Palembang's vital oil fields before the IJA takes the place?

The main reason I didn't lose as many men at Singapore as Pericval did, is that I had already lost them at Mersing where a lot of troops were cut off and captured. He also held out longer.

As I understand it, the game decides how much damage is done when a base is captured. Wish I could have my guys break some things before being captured.

I seem to recall the game can allow for friendly sabotage -- but by engineer units only.
Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Actually, civilians can and will sabotage facilities, even if no LCUs are present. It isn't common, but it does happen... one savvy and very experienced player allowed a bit of dismay to show when he captured Palembang unopposed, and found everything burned to the ground. [X(]

India

Karachi - Loading 221 RAF Base Force
Bombay and Karachi - Loading supplies for DEI

Dutch East Indies

Air defenses are getting stronger.  VMF-221 has upgraded to F4F wildcats and 453 RAAF squadron has turned in their Buffaloes and have been outfitted with Hurricanes. In addition, 14 P-40s and a squadron of B-25s are on the way to Soerabaja. I could bring in more aircraft from OZ, but I don't have the aviation support for them, so I'm going to try to bring a RAF base force down from Karachi. Maybe they'll make it. Maybe the KB will slaughter them. We'll see.

Southwest Pacific Command

Disposition of newly arrived aircraft

1 - 12th BG with 36 B-18 Bolo bombers has arrived.. These aircraft are obsolete, so I'm going to send them down to Rockhampton until they upgrade to B-25s.

2 - 90th BS with 16 B-25 Mitchells will go to Soerabaja via Darwin.

3 - 42nd BG with 64 B-26B Marauders will go to Charter Towers for now. When additional aviation support arrives, or when these planes upgrade to B-25s, Some, if not all of these, will end up in DEI or Darwin.

4 - 55th fighter group with 42 P-40B Tomahawks will be divided; Group A will go to DEI via Darwin, Group B to Gilli Gilll, and Group C to Darwin

It seems that, with the dismantlement of the mini KB, I have, for the moment, at least air parity over the Java Sea. I do not expect this happy situation to continue much longer. Once the Japanese Air Force gets established at Sinkawana, Kendari, Macassar, and Ambonia, the skies will darken. Also, the KB hasn't been heard from lately,

Very quiet lately: Allies bombard Japs, Japs bombard Allies. Japs and Allies exchange digital salutes, yatta yatta.

Priorities are sending supplies and aviation support to DEI. A  RAF base force and about 100,000 supplies are on the way,. I'll see if I can sneak this stuff in through the back door at Tjilitjap.Another BF is due to arrive at Karachi in a few days - it will go to DEI.

Final destination of aircraft to be determined later.

In 16 days, three C-47 squadrons are going to arrive in  OZ. I'm going to send those babies up to Cairns with  the idea of eventually shuttling units to the DEI via Darwin.

South Pacific Command

TF transporting 147,000 supplies has arrived from SF. It will proceed to Cairns. Another TF carrying 141,000 supply arrives next turn. I'll use those ships to set up supply shuttles to Canton, Lugarville, Noumea, and Figi. Two Tfs carrying fuel arrive in the next couple of days.

San Francisco

Transport TF 1042 departs SF bound for PH. There, it will load Hq SOPAC and transport it to Noumea.

Well, there's good news, and there's bad news. The good news is that the Japanese are attacking, which means my guys get to engage them and gain experience.. We lose more than they do, but, in the long run, we got more than they do.

Two zeroes for three P-39s? Deal!
Then there's bad news; The Japanese can interfere with reinforcement of Gilli Gilli, and, maybe, Port Moresby. Case in point:
