Historical background music for AE

Post by Jonathan Pollard »

I found some Youtube clips of historical Japanese movies that has music that can be appreciated by JFBs while playing AE. The music in the videos can be extracted into .mp3 files via http://vixy.net. If AE will have .mp3 background music, the files AE uses can be replaced with other .mp3 files that are renamed with the names AE uses. The first five links have vocalists.

WitP will play MP3s.  If you have music turned on, the game cycles through files 1025.sfx to 1033.sfx.  Witp may skip 1033.sfx though.

If you rename your MP3s to those file names, the game will play them.  It will also play WAV format and I believe one other.  They have to be named in that name range and your set to go.

Will anyone make some new sound mods for the game - I cannot do it but I think some better and expanded sounds would be nice

There was one thing added to the sounds for AE, but not much was done on that front. The bulk of changes are internal and visual.

If you associate the .sfx extension with an audio player (Windows Media player works, so do many others), then you can play the sound files and hear for yourself which file is which sound. Doing new sounds just takes replacing file x with your own sound file.

My favorite game music has to be from Pacific General, the radio station-like background music and chatter. It seemed so appropriate for the game. [8D]

You can download an actual Tokyo Rose radio broadcast from 1944 on the internet, maybe some others too.
