Supply system

Post by Txema »

How does supply work in this game?

Do units have to stockpile supplies when they want to conduct large offensives? Or are supplies replenished completely each turn if the unit can trace supply to a supply depot?

Can you explain the supply system in general?

Defensive supply is always replenished fully when units are in a supplied hex whereas combat and artillery attack supply will only be replenished from the unit's HQ and often does not bring the unit back up to full attack supply in one turn so planning your attacks are essential - you might want to have a quick look at one of my tutorials on HQs in the War Room section in this forum for more info

In Kharkov, the Russians get a big supply burst for the first 4 days so all units can attack and artillery can fire but the Germans can only fire artillery intermittently as their moderate supply gets passed around.  The situation reverses from turn 5 when the Germans attack and get a lot of supply in the southern area while the Russians lose their big supply bonus around Kharkov and cannot shoot artillery every round and may not be able to attack with many units every turn.  This is the big supply pattern in the battle you need to be aware of to fight effectively.

Click on a HQ unit and note it has an attack supply radius and a defensive supply radius. Both radius are shown graphically.

A unit can draw defensive supply from any HQ on the map.

A unit can only draw attack supply from its own HQ.

If you look at any unit, you can see how graphically many "attack bulllets" it uses, when ever it makes an attack.

Now look at the unit's HQ, and you can see how many attack bullets it hands out each turn.

From this you can work out, thtat after "X" turn sof constant attacking, a unit wil run out of attack supply.

And you can work how many turns it will take to have attack supply fully replenished.
