Another "Pacific" Trailer
You must be signed in to Facebook to see the trailer. This one is 2 minutes long and can be saved from your temp internet files (in mp4 format).
For the few of you who may not know, this is a scene from the $200 million HBO miniseries to be released in 2010. Produced by Steven Spielberg & Tom Hanks, it is the followup to "Band of Brothers", but will follow the 1st Marine Division from Guadalcanal to Okinawa.
I recommend that you guys save this before HBO takes it down.

You're welcome, guys. [;)] In case you didn't realize, this is the landing on Peleliu, and the young marine shown in the closeups is the character of Gene Sledge. The miniseries is partially based on Sledge's memoirs, "With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa", and also on Robert Leckie's "Helmet for My Pillow".

I guess I'll have to wait for a commercial trailer.
I'm not signing up on Facebook just to view it.

Anyone know when it's due?
Primary filming was finished in 2008, but given the scale of this production (MUCH bigger than "Band of Brothers"), it won't be aired until 2010. I expect to see a full-scale promotional blitz starting in late fall of this year. Right now, we are just getting a brief glimpse, but that short leaked promo is enough to keep us talking about it. Spielberg/Hanks & Co will no doubt give us some sort of introductory "making of" documentary, time frame unknown.

That looks amazing, thank you![:)]

I'd like to be one of the GIs in the movie. Making war movies must be fun. Looks like it was made in Australia so I wonder if most of the extras are Aussies.

I thought I had a link to the trailer but it was removed.

If you think that is like playing soldiers with hundreds of other guys, having fun all day long and getting paid for it then I have to burst your dream bubble. 90% of the action is CG. Almost anything of the flashbang is done in CG and postproduction.
Check out this little snippet about Saving Private Ryan and back in 1998 they did not that much in CG and post production [;)]

Yes, it is fun, but for the CG and Special effect guys [:)]

RE: Another "Pacific" Trailer
This is so frustrating. I've got guys e-mailing me to send them this trailer, but even the zipped file is 9.85 MB. I can't upload it to a common file-sharing site, as HBO has been closing these down. What's the big deal on establishing a facebook account? I got the video through my wife's account. No big deal: register, log-on, get the vid, and then cancel it. Run C-Cleaner, rid yourself of the cookies, and that's that.
