A Shout out to All the Great Conversations over the Years

Post by cdbeck »

As my 1000th post, I just wanted to say "Thank you" to all of you guys, gals, and aliens that have given me such stunning conversations, helped me grow into my love for wargames, given me things to think about - whether gaming or in real life, discussed history (my passion) with me, and just been generally fun and funny people! As an American currently living abroad, it is nice to know that, no matter where I go, I have a kindred wargamer out there near me, probably planning bombing runs or leading a Napoleonic charge!

Its nice to know that so many people can, across the world, come together relatively cordially over such a great hobby! Its also great that Matrix provides us with a gathering spot where the devs and mods are friendly, listen to their fans, and join in the same spirit of camaraderie. We may not always agree, but when we disagree, we do it in style.

So here is to my first 1000 posts, and let Matrix be around for another 20,000 more! [;)]

Best,
SoM

1000 posts.... and an American living among the French. Joy to you. Hope your studying is going well. I'm afraid I'm still a Matrix baby with less than 500 posts to my name..

Way to go, Montfort, time to take out that Bordeaux you've been saving, cut a slice of Camembert, and celebrate.

I almost don't want to post to ruin it! Dang! I guess I just did! [:'(]

Oh, I'm in the south, so the drink is Pastis (Anis flavored and considerably stronger than wine at 45%). You pour about 1 oz and then water it down to go from tan and clear to white and opalescent. It is almost a religious ceremony, doing that! You say "A votre sante!" or just "Sante!" (to your health) and take a nice drink. This is NOT a drink you can guzzle, you take nice measured sips. You REALLY have to like licorice or Anis (like Ouzo).

So, sante!

I would have had some wine, but the wife and I had a bit too much Blaquette de Limoux last night (a nice southern version of sparkling white wine) and want to stay away for a bit.

Best,
SoM

There are folks here that have 30,000+ posts.

What sets one apart from another is his willingness (or lack, thereof), to think outside of the box, to generate an original thought.

It's far less a regular occurrence than one might imagine. [;)]

Well there is so much brilliance on this forum we can't help but have good conversation. [8|]

All kidding aside, I think this forum does do a good job of staying reasonably  in line and respectful.  Some of the other forums I have tried now and then have a habit of turning everything into insults and very biased political discussions.

While I know that my opinions on such matters are always the correct ones to have, I suspect that not everyone wants to hear it, and me having to read opinions of idiots can be very frustrating.
