question about pilot training...

Post by bigbaba »

hi there,

lets say you have the KB in a big port with more then enough supply. it came back from a operation and has around 15% rookie pilots to replace the loses. can you just set 80% training for each daitai, let them on board the CV and disband them to the port to train your pilots or do you have to transfer the daitais into land bases to train them?

edit: and how does the skill of a AG leader increase the training effect of the pilots? which skill is the most important so the guys can fly better in a shorter time?

Hi there.

The training function takes FOREVER.....

There are 2 training methods to gain experience MUCH more quickly.

The Mogami method (use search function) and one that is a variation on that method I like better.

The Mogami method works, but has the drawback of loosing a group for 90 days before you can even start retraining it again.

This way you do not loose a aquadron for 90 days:

1 Fill out depleted squadron with new pilots
2 Assing leader with high inspiration (85+) to squadron
3 Let crews attack poorly defended targets in china, or allied dot base behind your lines, to train them up
4 Watch the weather, flying in bad weather costs you precious pilots
5 Once you think training level is high enough, put squadron on transport and unload on base with minimal aviation support.
6 Next turn 1-2 planes will have repaired, move these to other base (fragment of x planes will stay behind).
7 Transport other depleted squadron to base with damaged planes (rest of squadron) and disband fragment x into new squadron bringing this upto strenght again.

This method lets you continiously train op squadron without having to wait 90 days for COMPLETELY disbanded squadrons to return.

The training function can be used to bring completely untrained pilots to an exp rating of some 40-45. This is slower than bombing something, but it causes much less op losses. You have to balance... If PDU is off, the op losses are usually more serious - with PDU on you can downgrade and use up obsolete (and otherwise useless) planes for training.

If exp is well above 40, the disvantages of the training mission increase. Experience gain becomes very slow and will stop completely at ca. 50-55, and the op losses in bombing decrease considerably.
