Decisions,Decisions
Ok I need some assistance..What game should I get, Empire in Arms, Cross Of Iron or Wacht Am Rhine? All three intrigue me equally but I have the original CC copies of the latter two but have heard they have improved them.. Want to make a choice by tonight.
Thanx

No answers, huh? I figured some would have a opinion or would own at least one of the three and could give me some good and bad points without me digging through tons of posts in the game forums...sigh..I guess I could spend my money on a book instead..

Both are excellent. WAR is the newer release and has a strategic map layer. COI has a more traditional linked scenario CC campaign. If you prefer the West Front, go with WAR. If you prefer the East Front, go with COI.

Sorry, somehow I didn't even see that in the question when I quickly read it!
EIA I would recommend if you are looking primarily for PBEM and are a fan of the board game. There's no question that it released with a few too many issues and while most have been fixed and it has been improved significantly, it's not as polished and bug-free as COI or WAR yet. I would recommend EIA primarily for fans of EIA at this time, but COI and WAR for everyone. I think EIA will continue to improve quite a bit this year, so you may want to revisit it in a few months again and see if it's ideal for you at that time.

I can actually understand why you missed it...it isn't exactly in the same "era" as the other two...I actually missed it first time around also!

Erik, would you recommend WAR and COI to someone who owns the originals?

RE: Decisions,Decisions
Yes, in both cases. Both re-releases have had a great deal improved about them, from stability and compatibility through to graphics and content.

FWIW I own Cross of Iron, and I also owned the original version when it was first released.
It's a great game that should not be missed.

RE: Decisions,Decisions
I don't know about WAR...but CoI? I wouldn't tbh. Yes there were alot of changes, but I found it to be very, very similar to the original...and I didn't like the original. My main gripe with the original and therefore CoI was that the game still seems to be murderous for infantry and very focused on armour...as the original was.
Like I said, I don't know about WaR. I was so annoyed with CC III (original), I never bought any of the others. When I "rebought" CCIII in the form of CoI, I was as depressed as I was when I played the original.
Clearly I am in the minority. [:D]

Well, I was ok with the original east one and loved the bulge version which is surprising in itself as i love the eastern front and despise most bulge games.. Maybe I should be a glutton for punishment and get WW1 instead....

RE: Decisions,Decisions
If your a fan of AACW and can deal with that kind of map with many, many regions then it would be a good choice. I love AACW but get a headache trying to deal with that map. You might want to look at the screen shots first.

Lurker,
I would just go for WAR if I were you. It's the most up to date CC release and has even more improvements overall to the prior release than COI did. If you like WAR, then you'll most likely like COI.

It *is* mighty fine. If you played and liked Uncommon Valor or WitP, then you'll love WPO.
