What is this? I know the answer, and I think it's not obvious, but who knows with this knowledgeable crowd.

Looks kinda like a British light cruiser.  But a bit stripped down.  Maybe something like Achilles?

I thought it was an Arethusa class, but it isn't. Not Achilles either.

Nope on Abdiel, nope on Bellona or Dido class.

Someone will get it, this is a TOUGH group to stump.

Here is an overhead shot of the SAME ship. It was taken between 1939 and 1945 (won't say when). You can't see the turrets, she seems to have some sort of canvas covering. I will give Date and Place of this photo if a hint is needed.

Tis a good un alright.

I would have said HMS Aurora, post refit at around the time she was handed over to the Chinese.  But if she's not an Arethusa then I don't know...

Hello,
This photo shows the British built Argentine cruiser/training ship LA ARGENTINA which was built at Barrow-in-Furness in England.
Launched on the 16th March 1937 she was finally struck for scrapping in 1973.
Rab in Scotland.

rjg is CORRECT!!!! ARA La Argentina

Trojan and Feinder were on the right track, as she was a modified-Arethusa class CL....she was larger and armed with Triple Turrets rather than double, enough of a change that she wasn't an Arethusa.

Attached is a photo that shows the Triple Turrets.

You can sort of see on that overhead shot that they must be triples, I thought that would be a hint. That photo was taken early Aug, 1945, at New Orleans.
