Here's a good one for you: What happened the first week of September 1940 over on London that caused an unprovoked attack on Berlin? where 15 or so planes attempted to bomb Berlin, but none of the bombs made it through, but instead accidentilly bombed another German city thinking it was Berlin? You probably know the answer to that one, but not many know the second part. Why was it the best possible scenerio for the Germans to start bombing London. That is question 2. Here is 2a, and the most amazing of all: What was going on in the British parliament when churchill and his staff started to hear air raid sirens for the first time over London
It's basically a 3 part question even though there is a 2a. I challenge anyone to get all three answers. Here's a clue: it was a world altering event and no one knew about it until some 35-40 years later.

Q1: The Narvik Q still stands
Q2: What was the name of the organisation that helped nazi war criminals escape from prosecution?
Q3: What South American nation issued DOWs on the Axis nations on August 22nd 1942?

Q1: Could it be Larvik?

-Orm

Ding! Ding! Ding!

It was indeed! When news of the attack on Narvik reached the British Admiralty they refused to believe that the Germans had landed troops that far north and in waters were the RN was present, so they believed it had to be misspelled, and should be Larvik (located between Oslo and Kristiansand).

This looks like fun. I must join in. Since I saw a post about Brazil declaring war. How about this...

A) Which nation declared war on the Axis in February 1945?
B) Which nation declared war on the Axis in March 1945?

(Obviously they had to think carefully before committing themselves.....)

With regards to El Alamien, yes it was mainly a British victory....since the Royal Navy was the primary reason Rommel lost Africa.  Monty and the Commonwealth lads only mopped up the hungry, fuel-starved remains of the Panzer Armee Afrika.  [:D]

Admiral "ABC" Cunningham - when told the Royal Navy were not expected to continue with the evacuation of troops from Crete. The Navy must not let the Army down was another of his quotes at this time. So just as in Norway, Dunkirk and Greece the RN did all that was expected of them and more.

I'm pretty certain Turkey stayed neutral the entire war.

Monkla is definitely referring to countries from South or Central America, though I could not confirm which without looking it up (aka cheating! [;)]).

Hmm... I looked it up, so I don't want to answer the questions, but I was wrong about Turkey, so Warspite should get credit for his answer.

Mind, Turkey is one answer out of seven for February 1945 DoWs on Axis.

Incidentally, there are apparently two possible answers for who DoWed Axis in March 1945. But there was someone who was even later... April 1945. Who?

Yup, that would be Brazil. Brazil even had ground troops present in Italy.

First part, are you thinking about the fact that a few German bombers bombed London by mistake?
