VISTA compatibility

Apologies if the topic was raised uncounted times in the past... does the game run in a VISTA environment?

I tried running it on my new laptop, but promptly got a report that "this system does not support fullscreen mode", whatever it means [&:]

I am no computer guru and unable to adjust complex settings... at the same time, I hate the idea of being forced to part way with WIR. Anybody willing to help? [;)]

I had the same problem and downloaded a program called Dos Box this lets me play the game although also not being talented the screen is very very small and I have no way of enlarging it that I know of.

Lorenzo: download DOSBOX and run it.

Typhoon: press ctrl+enter.

This should fix your problems.

Mine problem is how to save screenshots while using DOSBOX under Windows Disaster (vel Vista). Ctrl+F5 works perfectly under Windows XP, but Windows Disaster - screenshots disappear like freedom in the European Union.

As far as the first is concerned - one can switch to other OS, while as far as the other is concerned - when the Irish voted 'NO' so called 'democrats' are trying to disregard that and they will. Welcome to the European Union of Soviet Socialist Republics('soviet' is Russian for 'council'). BTW: yesterday I read on the web the European Soviet Union wants to censor the Internet just like China.

Find dosbox.conf file in your dosbox folder. Open dosbox.conf with notepad.
Change settings:
fullscreen=true
fulldouble=true
fullfixed=true
fullresolution=640x480

It will work.

You can then try
fullresolution=640x350
It is even better but not all video cards support it

I now have the WIR as big as I would like. Now all I have to do is get myself a couple of PBEM games and learn how to play the game properly. Been a long time since I played this against the computer before I had heard of PBEM. Though I have completed one game PBEM I lost miserably. Still things are on the up for a bright future.

If you easily defeat the AI it means you are ready to play PBEM game. Unless you smash computer opponent read the forum or play PBEM paying attention to all tricks used by your enemy.

I am talking about freedom. 'Democracy' has always been a smokescreen for 'plutocracy', but in the current conditions - while this civilization is starting to crumble - even the reassuring fiction is being dropped by the ruling classes. Traditional political parties don't even try to hide the fact that they shall pursue identical policies as soon as they grab power - look at Germany or Austria and their joint conservative-socialdemocratic governments - nor that they are denying the people the right to vote on European Union because they well know they should vote 'no'.
