1926 Campaign goodboyladdie (A) vs Dixie (J)

Post by goodboyladdie »

Turn one passed with nothing happening. I have sortied some DDs to stop them upgrading. Pac Flt, with CV Langley in support is cruising to PH from SD. When war finally comes they will speed up. I did not realise my transports were due an AA upgrade so they are all stuck in dock repairing. Bugger! I will post more once something starts to happen.

A minelaying tf is on it's way to Midway to lay a defensive minefield and some subs from PH have sortied to patrol Guam, Wake and Midway. I am restricting myself to ordinary activity until war arrives...

Hi Bobo.

I remember the snippets you posted on the Thread. Martin will be a lot more aggreesive this time I think. He knows what he needs to do and will move quickly. I imagine it will mean that there is plenty of action!

Pac Flt has increased speed and is diverting to Midway. The Pre-Dreadnought Missouri is sailing for guardship duties at Canton Island. All subs at San Diego and Mare Island have sailed for their forward base at Pearl Harbor.

The fact that over half my AKs, APs and TKs are upgrading, as well as most of my DDs is a real pain. Please remember this day one upgrade if you play this scenario! I am spreading damaged DDs out to LA, Mare Island and Seattle to try to share the intense workload.

The minelaying Cruiser San Francisco, with AV Aroostock and a DM is heading from Mare Island to lay mines at Midway. The Baltimore and 4 DMs are heading out to do the same from PH. 1 AK and a fast transport tf of 2 DDs is starting the lift of 298th Inf Regt from PH to Midway. R Class subs are scrambling from PH and heading for Kwajalein, Saipan, Eniwetok and Wake.

The NZ Navy is cruising to meet the Aussies at Brisbane, except the CL Chatham, which is heading for Suva as guarship. 119th USN base force and 120th USN base forec are shipping out of the PI to Rabaul and Port Moresby respectively as the US government seeks Allies with bases in theatre.

CA Huron, 2 CLs and 6 DDs are sailing from Manila to Batan Island to try to disrupt Martin. S class subs are leaving Manila to patrol Takao, Guam, Aparri, Laoag, Vigan and the Pescadores. The DMs Hart and Rizal will lay mines at Manila before retreating to Singapore to await developments.

The 4 old Dutch BBs, with 4 Torpedo Boat escorts are heading for their war station at Tarakan. A new Dutch Cruiser out of Batavia will join them there. Dutch subs are assuming defensive patrol postions in Dutch waters.

The Dreadnought, Repulse and their escorts are heading to Singapore. Infantry and Artillery from Shanghai are moving to secure Hong Kong. Chinese and US surface forces are heading out from Shanghai to look for trouble and the 3 S class subs at Tsingtao are doing the same at Shanghai, Taichu and Naha.

More beautiful Dixie art. I'll post the Repulse and Shannon later. edit She is cruising btw, hence low max speed...

Not too much to report outside if the Combat Report. All my units are moving to where they were told. The Cruiser force out of Manila just managed to run into a sub and the only really powerful USN ship in theatre is now out of the war for a while...

Huron is safe in Manila. The CLs and undamaged DDs are on their way to Vigan to try to disrupt the landings.

No 20 Squadron has arrived at Singapore and No 5 Squadron has arrived at Hong Kong. Both are equipped with Bristol F2b fighters. Below is a screenie of the Chinese cruiser that managed to find a mine to hit - she should make Shanghai, where she will disband to repair.

Huron now has sys damage of 21 with no flooding. She will make for Singapore, keeping close to Borneo to hopefully avoid Martin's pesky subs.

The Japs are landing on Mindanao. I have nothing to challenge them with currently.

4 Chinese CLs are heading to bombard the Amami group. 5 USN China Station DDs are off to try the same at Okinawa.

The 1st elements of 298th NG Rgt have arrived at Midway. The 2 DD fast transport task force that deposited them is on it's way back to PH for more.

I did not realise that China is not yet at War! I have cancelled the Cruiser bombardment planned for the Amami Group. If Martin is not interested in China I think I had better get a good defensive plan in operation in the Pacific. It could just be that after last game he wants to make sure that he takes Manila quickly...

USS New Orleans is still afloat by some miracle. She is not even that badly damaged. A screenie of her is below. DD Peary has damage of 34/1/1 and is also not far from Manila. DDs McCormick and Zane are still off Vigan with damage of 81/41/16 and 83/65/31 respectively. I do not expect them to get back to Manila. I have PGs out to disrupt the landings in North Mindanao. It probably spells their doom, but I have to try something to change my luck...
