New Stuff

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Awesome screen shots.

Quick question: what are the units on 'fuel usage'? L/day? Is that a constant (average) usage rate, or a "only when moving" rate? In other words, does the unit this tank belongs to burn fuel when stationary?

Also, for "Weight" = 730 kg (in the 2nd screenie, 2nd column). That can't be the weight of a Panther tank. What does that refer to? I see "battle wt" = 44800 (I assume kg) right below, which sounds right.

Fuel consumption is litres/hr. Vehicles will consume fuel even when not moving, but at a reduced rate. Faster speeds consume slightly more fuel.

Weight=730 Kg is an error. 730 is actually the capacity of the fuel tank in litres.[8|] work in progress...[;)]

Estab Data Views

And last and this time probably the least interesting is the Ammo data view.

Sorry, but I'm a bit sad and actually find this type of information interesting. I'd like to see how many carried rounds for each weapon here.

Look at the screenie above that- the Panzershreck has 6 Ap and 4 HE rounds as the standard load. Is that what you are looking for?

Holy sh*t !!!

[X(]

This is good stuff.

To all: I hope you realize this is "state-of-the-art" stuff. We, poor Beta Bunies, couldn't even yet put our hands on it. So you, future paying customers, have a primer. I see Dave still has some priorities in mind.

To Dave: that will come at a price...

Excellent stuff, Dave - I've always wanted to be able to peek down to this level of data.

That's awesome, great stuff. I'm guessing "ronson" in the performance tab for vehicles is the chance it has of brewing up? Great name if so [:D]

IIRC, "Ronson"ability was there from day 1 in RDOA, though hidden in the scenario editor. It is indeed one of the nice touch of the game engine and proves the attention to detail of Panther Games.

Cheers,

Franklin

Yes, but I'd like to see it for AFV's, infantry weapons (e.g. mmg's) and even infantry units (i.e. standard load per man).

Thanks Arjuna.  I haven't checked in for a few days but you sure sold me.

That's exactly what i was hoping for.

It looks awesome.  The immersion factor is so important to a map based wargame.  This is a great way to help the player put theirself in the game ... on the battlefield ... inside the units they're commanding.

Yea but to have it in the game instead editor only will proof very helpful.

I really like to see some values behind a name so you have a bit more knowledge about the units abilities.

We will need to make sure the descriptions in the estab are useful. Sounds like we need to get a volunteer to look through them.

Arjuna,

Excellent work on the Estab Data Views!!!

However to make the Estab Data Views consistent I think it would be necessary to let the player view the "Weapon Estab Data" corresponding to the "Armaments" of the vehicles (for example, the "Weapon Estab Data" corresponding to the "7.5cm KwK 42  L/70" main gun that appears in the "Armaments" section of the "PzKfW V Ausf G - Panther" tank of your example).

Will it be possible to see the "Weapon Estab Data" corresponding to the "Armaments" of the vehicles?

Please.... [&o]

Txema,

We're hoping to, but we have a problem with the Armaments control at the moment. It's not responding to double-clicks for some reason. I'm hopeful we'll have that licked before release.
