Gee...
Some-one might get the impression that you guys don't trust Microsoft.

Microsoft's reputation precedes itself. If no one trusts MS, it's no ones fault but theirs. They do not produce quality products. I got so fed up with their tactics I went to OpenOffice.org and installed their Open Office Suite, which is almost exactly like the MS Office programs (MS Word, Excel, etc.) only it's FREE. With the MS Office suite, you pay a lot of money and if you have to re-load it onto a new system it won't let you - this is one of many examples.

And it's not just me. Microsoft Corp Execs are totally upset with the new OS VISTA. There is article about this that came out a couple of months ago. You'll have to Google it to find it.

Sorry for the rant. If wargames could be designed for the Macintosh I would never buy another PC.

Exaaaaaactly :) Let's see how many questionable things has Microsoft hidden inside that will show up on the spot light...few weeks later. Then we will find on the net how to get around those things...that's where I come in :)

Same here, un-installed MS Outlook and installed Mozilla's Thunderbird - works great!. Installed OpenOffice 2.4, works great as well. As a mater of fact OpenOffice 3.0 beta has just been release, Sun has 32 developers working full time on OpenOffice....so no need MS Office for me.

If I could get Thunderbird to talk to my ISP's mail server, I'd do the same.

What specifically isn't working?

Well, buy a Mac, install Windows XP via Bootcamp on it. Use Windows only for your gaming needs and MacOs for the rest. Like I do [;)]

But just to make it clear, it is not that MacOs and Apple applications have no issues, contrary to popular believe [;)]

The HELL you say, Sir![:D][:D][:D]

Anyhoo, early indications are that SP3 are just more of the same. No big changes over SP2.

Ah well at least they are putting in an effort although it'll likely be terrible, who knows?

Open Office: http://www.openoffice.org/

Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/

I have been using Open Office for about year and it's pretty good. Started with 2.3 and now running 2.4 which is compatible with MS Office 2003. OpenOffice 3.0 which is in beta stage is compatible with MS Office 2007.

Mozilla Thunderbird email client I have been using for about 3 years and I'm very happy with it. No spywares, no viruses, very small memory foot print...I have even now installed on my fiancee's laptop and she is pretty happy with it as well.

I have installed SP3 on 2 PCs with no issues what so ever.  It went smooth and everything worked fine.  Don't know what the hoopla is all about.  Will every machine upgrade with no issues no this is the case with every software.  You may have some crappy hardware and drivers or spyware or anything else you may have installed that crashes or some software that is not compatible.   It is impossible for any OS vendor Microsoft or not to take in affect every piece of software or drivers out there.
