Pity about the demo, I would like to see the quality of the game and the UI before buying. I have Combat Mission, but the UI always bogged me down and I never felt like I really knew what I was doing 90% of the time.

Ok, everyone, knock it off. Let's stay on topic.

Montfort, if you want more battlefield awareness, I think Panzer Command can provide. Panzer Command has a minimap and a unit HUD with all your units listed that lights up a unit when it's under fire (you can then double click on that unit to jump to it). You can issue orders and select units through the HUD. There's also an event list that tells you what's going on and clicking on an event in the list jumps you right to the action it reports.

I find I have an easy time following the action in Panzer Command and generally only need to watch a replay once to know what happened.
