Still cant get PBEM running

Post by RooseBolton »

All my tests to get PBEM working havent work, I have no idea whats going on here.

I'm just doing two ppl to see how this works.

France Host, England is client.

Once Ive finished france's turn, i save it to the commout file, and email it to england,

...recieve the file, save it in commin.

YET, when i try to open it..its not in commin its in SAVE file, is that correct?

and when i open that file, while it says "Great britian set-up", i cant do anything. All the options say currently player is France.

And if i try the "Load PBEM turn file", there is no file under commin, or saves...if i search for it it says "cannot open file now".

WTF is going on, I'm following the maual step by step, yet i cant get this thing to work and ive got ppl (who also dont understand the PBEM system), waiting to play this new game.

Can someone plz explain in clear terms how this is supposed to go?

RB

P.S. Shouldnt it ask for a password for the host?

Are you trying to run BOTH France & Britain?  IF so; you either need to have copies of the
game in two folders or do a bunch of file copying.  (The program isn't set up to be two PBEM players
on the same machine like that).

If you are running both  F & GB; do it this way:

1) Create game as host.
2) Email setup to "GB".
3) Run F setup phase; email to "GB"
4) MOVE F files (.sav & .sav.dat) to a "F" subdirectory.
5) Act as GB; load the setup file as client.
6) Load "F" setup phase turn file
7) Take GB setup turn
8) Email "GB" setup phase to "F"
9) Move GB .sav & .sav.dat files to "GB" subdirectory
10) Move files (#4) from "F" subdirectory back to main save directory
11) Restart as F; load "GB" setup phase turn
12) Run F diplomacy phase; email to "GB"
13) Move .sav & .sav.dat files back to "F" subdirectory
14) Move GB .sav & .sav.dat files (#9) from "GB" to main save
15) Restart as GB; load F dp phase; do GB dp phase; email to F; save files to GB directory;
16) repeat 10-15 for each phase until you get tired of it [>:]

(If you don't understand what I am refering to in any step; let me know & I'll
try to go into more detail)
