Curse these Europeans and their missives from the future! Humbug, I say! Humbug and...Merry Christmas. Yes, THAT should confuse you awhile.

We were woken at 6:20am by a shrieking noise from our son's bedroom. Followed by the thunder of him running into our room unable to contain his excitement because Santa had left some presents for him! So, from that beginning, we're having a very nice day here and I hope you guys are too.

Santa was generous and the turkey is almost ready. I also have a nice bottle of Cognac to share with my mother-in-law later. So, if I post even more nonsense than normal this evening, please excuse my drunkeness! [:D]
2nd Lt. George Rice: Looks like you guys are going to be surrounded.
Richard Winters: We're paratroopers, Lieutenant, we're supposed to be surrounded.

I miss that (in a very odd way). Once they reach a certain age that enthusiasm is replaced by a considerable reluctance to leave their pit in time for a late breakfast let alone an early morning rush for the pressies...

Glad to see you are on Cognac sharing terms with the mother-in-law. I'm more on 'avoid wherever possible' with mine, hence am currently hiding in my study typing this!

I saw a weird thing today. About noon, a truck drove up in front of my house that said either city or water utilities on it. They stopped in the middle of the road and coned off the truck and did their work. I assume it said water utilities, because otherwise how would I assume they were working on the water? There wasn't a problem with my water at all, and hasn't been for the longest. Perhaps some other house did, but what utility company, especially from the city, come by in the middle of the day on Christmas??????????????? There were no obvious signs of flooding from any houses etc. Just plumb weird.

I look out onto the street now and there's no indication that they did anything with the street, apart from park on it. I don't think there has been any sort of water connections or sewage cover out there. Could it be crooks trying to con somebody into thinking they were utility people?

Possibly...that does seem a little strange. Were they even parked in a way that would block your view of someone descending down a manhole, or checking a grate, or anything like that?

Good lord...I can only imagine what a city utils worker gets paid to make a run on Christmas...[X(]
