Will WitP work in Vista?

Post by Warspite3 »

Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't check since the search function on the forum is not working. Does this game run in vista?

Originally I had trouble when it installed into the default C:\programs\matrix games directory. Vista messes with stuff in the programs folder, so I installed it into C:\matrix Games and it works fine now. I have no idea what Vista does with programs in the Program directory, but now I install all my games into their own C:\ directory and bypass the default programs directory install recommendations.

If you install it into the deafult location, c:\matrix games\war in the pacific it will work fine. Vista applies special security to anything installed in the c:\program files folder so avoid it if you can. BTW the same caveat applies to HPS games too.

Some games (Not Matrix) like to go in the c:\program files folder. Examples include Civilization IV and International Cricket Captain. Actually they're the only other non-Matrix games I have installed.

Mine works fine. It just took forever to install.
