Thought it was pretty uninteresting, quite frankly. Did you notice that Sakai and Sutherland had the same oxygen systems? And apparently, they took in oxygen through their chins?

They are not using the oxygen, their not high enough to nead it, and the masks are diferent, they just pulled them down to breath easer.

I dont know if it is from a move or just a series of short depcting various battles.

For me it's pure eye candie, most of these planes have a very high estitic value for me (they look good), and seeing them rendered this way is prety cool, the A to A  action took some work to creat and the dramatic way the director moved the camera all adds up to some good fun.

The masks were precisely the same; and where was Sutherland's throat mike? Again, pretty uninteresting...

Whatever historical innaccuracies aside, that is an AMAZING video IMO. Technology never fails to impress me. Also I thought the ending was very noble (even though I would rather have seen the roles reversed [:D] ).

Does anyone here know what all the text said???? I'm interested to find out.

Apparently there's a whole serie made of clips like that. The 3D is really good, and this clip is very, very impressive (USN attack on the Shokaku at Coral Sea).
But looks like that Japanese pilots must be uber or something, because they never seem to get shot down [:D] [;)]

By the way is the SBD set of bomb correct? Looks like a 1x500 2x250 combinaison, but it looks strange to me... Wasn't that kind of configuration cleared for ops only later in the war?

By the way, there are a couple very very nice carrier ops scenes in there...

I am pretty sure that this all must be from some upcoming (or already existing) Japanese war film.

Guys remember those Yamato scenes that first appeared on YouTube and then we found out about Yamato movie (I watched it at home on DVD)!

I rather believe it's somekind of documentary, the History Channel's dogfight style (which also make a quite dynamic and spectacular use of 3D by the way).

Shokaku 12/8/41 Pearl Harbor – looks like 2nd wave takeoff and recovery, begins about 2:28 sec into the clip. Also Zuikaku in July 1942, and various 1942/44. Also, a very brief, extremely rare footage of Junyo or Hiyo. Also some of Ryujo, then Akagi (at PH) & Kaga
