OT: 4days and 14 hours + of WWII news programs

Post by roeddog »

For those who may be interested Internet Archive has available for download as individual files or the entire collection (740M worth) of the original radio broadcasts of the major news events from WWII. The collection ranges from 1939 through 1946 in mp3 format.
This site also has many other programs and media types for download that are in the public domain also.

This is great. I'm listening to news bulletins from December 7, 1941 as I type this. It's interesting to hear a CBS radio announcer mispronounce Oahu ("Oh-HAH-oo"). It's even interesting to hear what sort of programs were being interrupted on December 7: Dinah Shore; the New York Philharmonic; a Sherlock Holmes show. Thanks for a great link!
