Zhukov's war

Post by Tom1939 »

We agreed to play a possum 41 campaign with kingtiger with him being with the germans. For fun he skipped the first turn... That means I have loads of troops and planes. Losing this as soviets will be painfull experience if kingtiger can do it.

This week comrade Zhukov praised the great Stalin as he steps down from power for his well deserved rest. 3 siberian divisons will protect him from any harm.

Reports are coming in that the germans are mass mobilizing near our borders. To avoid any provocations all troops and planes were pulled back from the borders.

say Tom,
if ,in your post you are saying that Zhukhov assumed command of Stavka on your first turn ([:-]) ....Possum or whatever, ....Kingtiger skipping his 1st turn or whatever....then I wud like to know how you did that?.....if you established a circular order of command bypassing Stavka then please say so as well.
Pardon me if I misinterpreted your post, but does "no rules" mean getting Zhukhov in command of 90% of battles starting with 1st Sov turn is fair game?

The SS have destroyed a major spy ring called Luci operating in German. Before there destruction they managed to warn the Soviets of our attack. The soviets have pulled back and we have rarly spotted any of there forces.

No, sadly I could not make zhukov command the Stavka. Stalin is still in charge. I just wanted to add some fun to it. I dont think Stalin would have allowed a massive retreat like the one I did without any combat. Kingtiger skipping the first turn gave me a big advantage. This is not a fair game. This is about a excellent player (kingtiger) getting his challenge from an average one (me).

Tom.
your tongue-in-cheek remark abt being an average player is amusingly disingenuous..."tamas" was renowned even 3 years ago, oder nicht, for taking Gorki in Dec-Jan blizzard?

My point was asking: is it "fair game(as in considered normal)" to place Zhuhov in command of Stavka via whatever methods you WIR veterans, veteran DOS editors have at your disposal? Or am I seeing ghosts? Too often I see Zhukhov commanding too many battles in too many PBEM games, by end July.

That guy taking gorki was not me. I guess it must have been josan, kingtiger or shane...

Sadly I cant edit nothing (if I could I would not do it), and I cant kick out Stalin with some kind of trick. It might be possible to do some kind of command cahin stuff to make Zhukov command more but I never bothered with it.

The peace loving soviets give the germans one more chance to live the workers paradise. Next week the red air force will destroy the germans.

A minority of the soviet troops stopped their run and formed a line to slow the germans. Hopefully the killing will slow then down.

Interesting twist.....
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

The panzers still only wait and prepare... If they start an offense fully rested, nothing can stop them. Near Dnepropetrovsk the hungarians were attacked and they retreated.

1st major air battle this week in the south with the Soviets gaining control of the air. Only 1/3 of the fighter force was present in the South as the other air wings were transfered to Germany for refitting. Reserve fighters have been rushed to the front.

Moscow has been bombed in a attempt to spread the Soviets fighters out

Advances in the North and Centre only encounter weak resistence.

The decesive phase of the war started. Everything that flies, drives or can somehow use a gun is thrown to the frontline. No germans are seen in the south except a panzer korps.

No losses.

Recon reports are comming in of an a massive amount of Soviet air movements to the front. There is so many aircraft that they cannot be counted. Flak units have had to use search lights as the large number for Soviet aircraft have turned the day into night.

1 Soviet airfield was bombed destroying about 1000 aircraft on the ground. A 2nd Soviet airfield was attacked but Soviet defences proved to be too strong. Bomber and fighter losses have been high and a lack of any fw109a's is proving to be a disaster.

The refitted fw109a airwings have missed the greatest air battle so far!!

Aircraft losses this week:

Axis/Soviet

1205/3180

In a surprsing turn, the great Luftwaffe units are nowhere to be seen. The red air force begun bombing the german panzers in the centre. There was only few dozen german fighters who were annihilated by our small numerical supriority.
The panzers in the centre turned out to be small backup battle groups. Adjecent to Smolensk the panzer korps with the proud grossdeutschland division run away from our attack.

Losses this week:
Axis/Soviet

199/5
