A PERFECT Sunday in the fall is the Cowgirls loss and a NY Giants win. [:D][:D]

Sorry, but I grew up in the late 60's and 70's with Dallas as "America's Team."  Still hate them more than any sports team and 40 years isn't going to change that fact. [8D]

When it comes to the Beagles, I just want to know how many Super Bowls they have won?? [;)]

Seafire: FAA lost more than 50 due to op losses in 5 days of Salerno 1943  just because it was too fragile be a carrier aircraft.

What's that got to do with Spitfires, Zeros and Darwin?[&:]

IIRC most of those were on board HMS Unicorn which was not intended as an operational carrier

Plenty of Seafire ops losses during the FAA attacks on the Sumatra oilfields, but that's still irrelevant to the discussion of Spitfires vs. Zeros.

The Spits were trounced by Zeros over Darwin...

Spitfire losses over Northern Oz were 29 destroyed from all causes for 22 Japanese planes destroyed, whilst it's not a stellar achievement neither is it trounced.

Certainly no trouncing but again, when was this?

My original post was wrong (oops [8|]) the 29 was combat losses. The totals are from pacificspitfires.com + another 15 lost to engine/csu failure or fuel starvation.

The 22 Jap losses includes bombers and if i am not mistaken a recon aircraft but i am not sure of that last one.

The losses do include Jap bombers, which were the primary target of the RAAF at the time. There's no point in shooting down Zeroes and leaving the Betties to unload their bombs over Darwin [;)]
The Spitfire was more than capable of dealing with Japanese fighters, even the old Mk Vs although the Vokes filter caused a big hit on performance.

Not very likely, considering the range. All the "Zeros" claimed by Allied pilots in Burma and India were Oscars.

You're obviously confused, delirious, have bad taste or suffered blunt force trauma.

I think we can both agree we hate the iggles tho. [:D]

Pretty much every radial engine fighter with retractable u/c was a Navy Type 0 as far as the Allies were concerned.  Over Darwin they happened to be right [;)]  I think the raids on Northern Oz were exclusively an IJN effort, though I may be wrong.
