Upgrading IJA bomber groups to fighter groups

I'm in a game using CHS scn 157 and I've noticed that when the Ki 102a and b arrive I can convert all my bomber groups to fighters (helen - Lily II - Randy b - Frankc/Ki83). Anyone know if this is intended, or will I go to Gamey hell for using it?

The ki-102's are fighter-bombers so I don't think it is gamey. They are clearly ground support aircraft, given the 37mm cannon and 250kg bombs.

Yes I don't think the transition from LB to FB is gamey... if you have a way to move to a real fighter it will be another thing.

OK - I set up a scenario with 100 of each type of FB and Fighter. There is a route to true fighter from LB: Lilly II - Randy (b) - Nick (b) - Randy (a) - any fighter. Also works for DB.

Yes, recon and bomber pilots both, and both whole units and individuals. Of course, unlike WitP, being a qualified Sally driver didn't automatically mean being da bomb in a Oscar etc.

Seems reasonable to me, especially when you can become a crack fighter pilot by bombing chinese peasants for months in your zero [;)]

This is only if PDU is on I think?

I have house rule in my PDU CHS game - dive bombers can only upgrade along the Lily > Lily II > Randy path. They can't switch to other fighters or other LB's (like Sally's or Helen's).
