Operation Market Garden Tournament Announced by Matrix Games and SSG

Battlefront features the power of battalion-level combat in some of this period's most bloody and intense conflicts: Saipan, Market Garden, Novorossisk, and Gazala. Players will have realistic control over their soldiers, with a tactical scale just large enough to make a telling difference in the strategic picture.

Operation Market Garden Tournament Announced by Matrix Games and SSG

Win free prizes by showing your tactical mettle with SSG’s Battlefront!

Matrix Games and Strategic Studies Group (www.ssg.com.au) are proud to announce a new tournament for their award winning WWII turn-based strategy game, Battlefront. Entitled the Market Garden Tournament to denote the scenario on which players will be showing off their strategic prowess, the Market Garden Tournament gives Battlefront fans the chance to win a variety of prizes! Registration is now open and all participants must register in SSG’s Run5 Battlefront forums to secure a spot in the event. Act fast, space is limited!

Gregor Whiley, Vice President of Strategic Studies Group, added “Market Garden is an enormously engrossing scenario which will give even the most confident strategists a run for their money. I truly can’t wait to see how players will deal with the tough decisions that will come their way over the course of the tournament.”

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Battlefront has kept WWII strategy buffs busy for quite some time now. What better way to reward the game’s fans and top players for their commitment than to give them the perfect venue to show off their skill, and win some cool prizes in the process.”

While the Battlefront system shares a design philosophy with SSG's award-winning Decisive Battles series, it is actually an entirely new system specifically designed for battalion-level combat. This level of play gives the player a chance to experience true issues of command, control, sighting, and supply at a level that emphasizes plenty of tough but enjoyable decisions to make. Players have full control over the off-map movement of their units; players can move units in special off-map areas, getting realistic control over where and when to employ their reinforcements. Opponents will never be entirely sure where and when these units will arrive, increasing the tension and fun.

Get more information on Battlefront from its official Matrix Games webpage. Get more details and the tournament rules from SSG’s forum.
