CL's Infantry and Aircraft Mod

Post by Charles Lamb »

These graphics do not effect your games compatability with other players in any way. They affect the way that you see certain units in the game, an opponent without this would be completely able to play with you but would see the stock graphics.

I have revised and added aircraft types and national infantry graphics.

20 New aircraft graphics. 8 replacements, 12 additional new ones.
20 New Infantry Graphics. 14 replacements, 6 additional new ones.

I have uploaded this to the wargamer where it is available now in the Games Depot section:-

I got instructions about how to upload the mod but Matrix forums do not support zip files and I do not know how to link to it from my webspace
(or in fact get anything on this web space except as user passworded ftp.).

Sorry rjh1971

Can anyone host these files for me (about 700k) or explain to me how to do it ?

(pm me details and I will email the files to you.)

I will explain to you how to make a link in the post from where you announced the mod to where you actually host the files.
  • Edit post #1 where you announce the mode.
  • Once you are in edit mode press the "link" button. Then in the URL* space you write down the link to the page from where you can download the mod.
  • If you want the link to be a word then type the word you want to use as a link in the space for URL Name.
  • Press ok to post the link.
  • Then accept changes to the post
Also you may want to enhance the word you use as a link, if so change its colour , size and make it bold.

If I have explained myself and you did understand it, we should all be having access to your new units. If you have any problems keep trying it's not too difficult.
Hope you have a host web, because how to do that I don't know.

Thank you for your clear and detailed explanation.

I don't have a host website (that works anyhow) otherwise it would be quite straightforward.

And much later....

Here you can see Russian early Mig9 fighters (there is a Mig15 at higher research level).

US F86 sabres and Uk Vampire. Also late version UK infantry in Paris.

I have redone all the infantry of all nations (although only allies, UK, Axis, and soviets have multiple levels).

Other aircraft, Uk Blenheim (basic Tacair), P51 redone. Mig 1 ,UKmustang, ...anyhow 20 in total.

I have managed to upload this to the wargamer where it is pending their approval. As soon as it is accepted I will post a direct link to the download.

I keep looking at the Wargamer site, they have not updated their downloads section since the 3rd march nearly a month ago.
Hopefully they will soon however.

The moment they do, I will post a link here and in the main section.

I posted my GGWAWGG on Jan6, it never showed up so I tried again on Jan28. That's why you can see two posts of the mod there.

Neither of those showed up until I sent them a __second__ email asking what was up and how to get it up there.

So I wouldn't hold your breath. You may have to start gently harrassing them.

Thanks WanderingHead,
I emailed them today asking what was going on. I hope this may create some kind of activity. Even a negative is preferable to nothing as it allows for alternative plans.

Looks like a great mod.  Any reason to not incorporate the improved graphics in the latest patch?

Its kind of you to say so.

It would be good to get a bit of feed back and ensure that everything functions correctly for people.

It is quite time consuming to do and the wargamer submission involved quite some emails etc...

I have got a little feedback so far. Some of the infantry would benefit from some heavier shading and/or slightly larger for easier visibility. There may be other good comments and suggestions also from people.

I may do more if people liked this, but small changes are just too problematic to make available so I would wait until there are a few.

A 'mod' gives people the choice and I think it is less problematic for 2by3 also in terms of copyright etc.
