2006 Playoffs: Who Are You Rooting For?

Post by KG Erwin »

I got a soft spot for the Dodgers that goes back to 1988, so I gotta "Think Blue".

Nevertheless, realistically, I think it'll come down to the Cardinals and the Yankees. Why? No special reason. Just a hunch.

I have to go with the Dodgers or Tigers. I'd like to see Maddox get another ring this year since his career is just about over, and I love Jim Leyland and think what he's done this year with the Tigers has been amazing. Too bad the Cubs couldn't hire him instead of Baker last time. Hopefully they can get Girardi this time if the Marlins are dumb enough to let him go, which it appears they are.

If the Cards make it out of the first round, I'll be amazed, their pitching is godawful, and they only have one hitter that I'd feel confident in at the moment. Maybe they can turn it on for a round, but I don't think there's a chance they get to the series.

Twins. A catcher winning the batting title, a pitcher winning the triple crown, and a hitter more valuable than David Ortiz. Oh yeah, they also have the best defensive CF in the league. Now, if they could just hurry up and add twenty million more people in the metropolitan area and move to the East Coast, maybe they'd get a little more news coverage...

Go Tigers! Though I doubt they are up to it. What a disappointing collapse.

I grew up with the New York Mets. Actually, I was the only Mets fan in a house full of Yankee fans. But as a follower of the Royals, I'd love to see the Twins do well. That's my heart.

But my brain says Yankees vs. Mets, with the same result as the last Subway series.

Mets, if they don't make the Series, then the Tigers.
If neither, than anyone but the Yankees.

The Yankees.

And yes, I also always root for Darth Vader and the Empire when I watch a Star Wars flick.

I've been a Redbirds fan for nearly 5 decades, and crummy pitching isn't enough to change my mind. Don't worry, I am used to disappointment; I have been a Missouri Tigers football fan for over 3 decades.

Go Cards!

So much for everyone being scared to face the Twins in the postseason, wow. Couple of impressive games by the As. Still don't think the Cards can win unless Carpenter can pitch three games, but if the lineup keeps hitting you never know.

Cardinals fan all my life, so that's my cheering interest.

The wife is a Dodgers fan though, so barring the Cardinals, I will have no option but to become a Dodgers fan.

I want to see the Twins make it, but things don't look too promising right now.  That said, I wouldn't mind seeing the Tigers go all the way (not over the Twins, of course!).  They were so good for most of the season.
