Torpedo Bombers and Dive Bombers, like Val and Kate, need an afld size 2 or 3 to operate?

sure ! . you need a AF 2 type to strike missions. I think the Kates only attack with bombs in normal range, I am not sure, but i think it need a AF 4.

From memory:

Size 1: CAP, naval search, recon
Size 2: DB and TB bombing and naval attacks, LRCAP
Size 3: LB with reduced load (no torp)
Size 4: LB with normal load (torp for Betties/Nells)
Size 5: normal size for B-17/B-24
Size 7: normal size for B-29

I'm pretty sure that LBs can use level 2 airfields for any offensive operations at a reduced load and no further than normal range. The level 1 airfield restrictions against Airfield, Port, Naval, Ground Attack and Fighter Sweep are gone with level 2 airfields. Anything less than level 4 + (max load/6500) rounded down will be allowed at reduced load and reduced range, as long as it's not a level 1 airfield.
fair winds,
Brad
