An IJN sub tries to attack a USN battleship on the surface. 31 12" shells later, it regrets that mistake.

I've never seen a capital ship dispense that much main caliber ammo - usually it saves 3 shots per barrel as emergency supply. Carolina is down to half that much.

The first invasion of Ponape fails miserably as a IJA regiment is found on the island.
 
On the other hand an HQ finally proves its value as a USA regiment in the same hex as its HQ valiantly repulses an onslaught of an entire IJA division.

1st USN BB squadron maims two IJN destroyers still with factory paint on them and on their maiden voyage.
 
2nd USN BB squadron matches that by hurting an IJN OOB and a CA.
 
In return, IJN apprehends and sinks 5 USN transports.
