Matrix Games Nominated for Two Origins Awards

Post by Alex Fiedler »

Lock and Load: Band of Heroes and Gary Grigsby’s World at War

Matrix Games is very proud to be nominated for two Origins Awards. Each year the Game Manufacturing Association hosts a series of awards at the Origins Game Convention, giving accolades to the very best in gaming. This year Matrix Games has been nominated for Best Historic Board Game, Lock N’ Load: Band of Heroes, and a Vanguard Nomination for Unique Game Products for Gary Grigsby’s World at War.

Mark Walker’s Lock and Load: Band of Heroes is a squad level board game. The game features the 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions in multiple scenarios and campaigns. Lock’n’Load system packs much more action in a typical turn than most games. This is done through the use of impulses during the turns and each hex is 50 meters. Counters represent squads, leaders, heroes, medics and even the occasional chaplain or scout. Additionally units can bring support with them, such as machine guns, artillery, and even tanks!

Gary Grigsby’s World at War takes the second world war and places you at the helm of one of five possible powers: The Western Allies, China, Russia, Germany, or Japan. Command your army and coordinate your attacks. Gain supplies, resources, and factories to fuel your war machine. Manage your supplies and supply lines to ensure you have the resources necessary to capture territories and press your attacks. Gary Grigsby’s World at War is a quick game to learn but a hard game to master. You can now bend and shape history with your skills as a leader.

Give a hearty congratulation to Mark Walker and the 2by3 Games teams on their nomination. Matrix Games wishes them the best of luck at the award ceremony.
