Land units reattaching

Post by jamesjohns »

For land units that are part of a larger organization, what are the benefits, and drawbacks, or rebuilding/reattaching tot eh parent unit.

For example, a division has 3 brigrades that are in different places and the "division" is not active. Is it worthwhile to move them to same location and "reattach/rebuild" and form the division?

Thanks for the responses

Divisions are far more effective in combat, than their respective battalions.

A division will perform better in combat for the most part. It will have more staying power. It may also have its TO&E filled out a bit. One thing to watch is the commander, more often than not he'll be a lower ranking officer. This in and of itself is not necessarily a problem, but it has been my experience that his fitness to command will not be up to par (his numbers will suck).

For Japan during the initial phase of invasions some of the child units can go on their own against weak opposition Allies have in most places. But it is always desirable to go into big battles as a single division. E.g. crossing into Singapure or attacking Clark/Manila. Afterwards divisions are a mainstay of land war, especially on offensive or for big invasions later in the game. Same for the Allies.
