Disregard - DBB - USAT Argentina

Post by treespider »

Whilst prepping my Empires in the Balance mod for release I have been doing some minor tweaking of US division starting locations and arrival times.

For the purposes of this thread I have altered the arrival locations of portions of the Americal Division. Historically the 132nd and 182nd Regiments departed New York on Jan 23, 1942 as part of Task Force 6814. I have opted for the units that comprise TF 6814 to arrive in Balboa on Feb 7, 1942 rather than in Melbourne on Feb 26, 1942.

I tried to conduct some brief research on which vessels were involved in the movement of the troops and I found that USAT Argentina (SS Argentina) carried the 182nd Regiment to New Caledonia.

182nd Regiment

USAT Argentina was also involved in the movement of the 32nd Division from San Fran to Adelaide Apr 22-May 14, 1942.

Unfortunately I cannot locate USAT Argentina in the DBB ship list...any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Now that it is morning and I have had a cup of coffee I did some more digging and found the other transports.

Task Force 6814

Narrative History of TF 6814

SS Argentina - not in DBB

SS Barry - I assume is Thomas Barry, in DBB, arrives LA 420308

SS Cristobel - not in DBB

SS Erickson - not in DBB

SS McAndrew - not in DBB

SS Santa Elena - in DBB, arrives LA, 420123 (actually departed NY 420123)

SS Santa Rosa - not in DBB

SS Island Mail - in DBB, arrive Balboa 411209

The narrative history has TF 6814 entering the Pacific Feb 1, 1942 from Panama so I will amend the units as needed.

My apologies - seems this topic was already covered back in 2010 in the

DBB Errata thread

While at it, have a look at the RAN arrival dates and locations.

At your suggestion I did so for the major vessels.

Shropshire was a notable change...from 430215 - Aden to 430924 - Perth.

Also have Nester, Napier, Nizam withdrawing in May 42 to escort Malta convoy and returning Aug 42.

Vendetta I assigned 15 sys, 75 eng damage as she was towed from Singapore all the way to Melbourne.

Other minor changes here and there...added some sys to Voyager.
