Trasparent HUD

Post by JMass »

I saw some screenshots where the HUD was almost transparent, so I did the same and you can download it as JSGME compatible mod:

I was going to ask eniced for it but now we don't have to. Thanks.

I was going to upload that eventually but never got around to doing it. I prefer mine a little more transparent than jmass though. I thought of the idea from a mod I did a while ago with the Theatre of War series game (see pic below). Game makers always put the HUD at the bottom which takes up valuable real estate in my opinion. You will almost always have units in this area that will be hidden. For the TOW HUD I moved the display to the upper right and left corners. I could not do that with PC. It might be possibe but I did not look into that closely. I just went with the transparency to make it simple. The only time you need to look at the skybox is at planes and that does not happen that often. If we could move it to the top that would free up a nice portion of the land map.

I like this. It makes the screen look bigger.

JMass that is what I was hoping to see. Is there any way to move the status box on the left to the upper right hand corner and flatten out the middle HUD to make it smaller yet expanded across the whole bottom of the screen? What file controls these coordinates? Appreciated.

Sorry mate but I think that HUD is hardcoded, I just edit some screenshots to see the difference, it could be cool to have a HUD like this or even less invasive.

I made a new, more neat, version of the transparent HUD.
