The mod you need: message_alarm.wav

Post by deanco2 »

Sick of hearing BWEE BWEE BWEE BWEE and jumping out of your chair every time one of your exploration ships runs into a pirate in some far off star? Paste this into your Distant Worlds\sounds\effects folder. It changes that annoying alert sound to something along the same lines, but much softer, much shorter, and much less annoying.

Amazing how they can make such a complex game and seem to mess up on the little stuff.

A (single) bump for freedom.  Trust me, if you just bought the game, you need to install this ASAP.  The stock sound will annoy you no end.

Attached is the wav file I used to replace the DW message_alarm.wav. It is the Space Shuttle's minor systems management alert (a single tone).

I see a lot of people in the other forums complaining about the default alert sound (and rightly so), so I'm bumping this.

Amen to that brotha, it has literally made me spill a nice refreshing drink by making me jump out of my chair. [X(]

I am now paranoid about my volume setting.

To each his own.  Me, I went and changed it after 1 hour of play, as I absolutely could not bear it.
