RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
Put a carrier in an Air TF. Put the air unit on a carrier. Make sure it's set to resize. Disband the carrier. Voila! The air unit resized.

Thank You Mike!
Does it takes a carrier to be disbanded?
Does a supply or port size matters?
How does it calculate things?
I know that ih 63 planes Hiryu will resize its 3 Air groups to 21/21/21 but what if I will put 4 groups of varius sizes with some set to do not resize?
Lots of puzzels....

RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
I don't think port size or supply matters. If the carrier can disband, the air unit will resize. I resize the small IJN DB and TB units and then fill them up with rookies and set them to train. They're future replacements for KB. I haven't tried to resize KBs planes yet. I may try it when KB goes for some R&R.
You can test it easily. Since the resizing happens immediately, if it's not to your liking, just quit without saving.

I just tried disbanding Hiryu into port to see if the groups would resize. They did not. Am I doing something wrong?

RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
And another question: Do the air groups resize on some date to have more fighters and fewer Kates as they did in WitP?
RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
I tried this very thing with Zuiho in Japan at the start of the war and got the same result as the Shoho example.

Resizing the Shoho and Zuiho air groups will get you 18 fighters and 12 torpedo bombers.

There are 3 possibilities for resizing a unit:
No resize allowed - won't happen
Resize to fit ship - this resizes the unit when on a carrier and you disband the carrier
Change to xx on xx xxx xx - you can't resize this one. It changes to the specified number on the specified date.

Rezize was allowed. Yet after disbanding, the groups are still the same size. I would love it if I could get Soryu and Hiryu filled up to their capacity.
RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
I had no problem with 63 cap Soryu IIRC - it is 21/21/21
RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
That is clear Mike.
However
I want to know if resize max size is hardcoded for air groups or related to nominal cap of a carrier!
Too many unnecessary puzzels here.... not toched by a manual... disapointing...
I love this game!

Sorry, I don't have a clue about that one. I'd really like to know too.

RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
Has anyone tried to re-size the Jakes on a CS?? I want to get 24 FPs on board for search (50% would equal 240 degrees of Naval Search for KB).

RE: How EXACTLY resize of Carrier Based works?
Does this work for an Allied CV? I've got Yorktown with two DB squadrons on board, both with fewer than 10 planes each, and I'd like them to go back to full size (there are replacements available).

Resize affects the max number of planes in carrier air unit and I think Yourktown is quite maxed out already. I don't think you can circumvent Replacement delay (you can only draw max. 12 planes every 7 days as automatic replacements) by using resize.
