CAW - will it work on low res 1024x600

Post by Yamashira »

I have a netbook that has a dedicated 256mb Nvidia video card but because of the small size of the screen it only has a max resolution of 1024x600. Will CAW work on such a low res as the game specs originally stated a slightly higher res.

Thanks.

Hi,

CAW will not start if the screen resolution does not meet the minimum requirements.

Thanks very much Alex. Was very hoping to play this on my netbook. Oh well, guess I'll wait and hope my netbook gets an update with higher resolution options.

Cheers,
Kent.

Hi,

I just got a new netbook, a Dell mini10v which also has a 1024x600 display. However, you can set it to larger resolutions and the screen will automatically scroll when the mouse gets to the edge of the screen. This allows it to work with War in the Pacific - Admiral's Edition.

Anyway, I set the disply to 1024x768, and installed CaW without and error messages. However, it crashes when the program launches.

Any other tricks to try?

Hi,

it works. You find a options file in the CAW Folder. In there you can set the solution.
Some parts of the game are not shown with this solution but it is playable!

best greetings

Thanks! It works.

I also fiddled with using it in windowed mode but the area taken up by the window border gets in the way.

By the way, are the options in the options.txt file documented anywhere?

thanks,
