Multiplayer Tournament/League

Post by Svend Karlson »

Revised Proposal after feedback:

Single Player Elimination Tournament with 16 Players

1. Svend shall act as coordinator & adjudicator & take no part in the actual gaming (and shall gain karma as a result)

2. Match schedules will follow a set competition tree with initial line-ups being determined randomly

3. Each match-up will consist of two 1vs1 games, where the players control the Axis in one game, & the Allies in the other.

4. Victory shall be determined thus:
Total Victory = 3 stars
Decisive Victory = 2 stars
Marginal Victory = 1 star

In the event of stars being equal after the two games, the victory screen points totals from both games shall be added together & compared to decide the victor.

4. Rules for all games shall be AS on, AV on, FOG on, Fuel on, latest patch installed

5. Brief AAR required for each game played (a single post comprising 3-5 paragraphs will suffice along with victory screen)

Current sign ups: 16 places taken, 0 remain - RESERVES WELCOME

To sign up post your email address below. Once we have 16 persons I shall send a test mail to all & go from there

I would be intrested, but pherhaps a solo tournament would be easier to run the first time through?

I would be interested as well in a tournament (and agree with Maginot: 1 vs 1 is easier).

Me too :)
Although 4 player games seem to take a long time.
Also there'd be incentive to keep playing & not just give up at the first set-back.

I think a single player tournament would be a to better to start with.

It can be single elimination, or it can be round robin with points for wins and losses. The two players with the highest point total once everyone has played everyone, will play a game for the championship.

My vote would be for single elimination. Svend, I'd be willing to help you get the brackets together and such.

I haven't counted how many people have posted, but I'd be up to playing also.

I'm not sure how many people you have. But a single-elimination tournament (or possibly the round-robin idea) sounds like fun. Forwarn45@aol.com.

Heh, single elimination is a lot quicker, so that alone makes it the better choice.

for a single-elimination tournament, 8 or 16 (32 is also, but thats a LOT of people) would be an ideal number of participants.

You will aslo need to figure out how to determine who plays which side.

Okay then guys single player elimination it is. I shall update my first post to present a proposal.

Also, in the interests of making this as fair as possible, I think it best if I do not participate. That way I can be an impartial & objective adjudicator (paypal donations aside). I shall participate in the next tournament organised by someone else [:)]

Hummm, kind of late to suggest this, but here goes:
Each player should get 1 game as Axis & 1 As Allies. That way the 2 point totals & win/loss could decide who goes to the next round.
Of course that makes any tournament twice as long... more complicated... but at least you won't get stuck with a "bad luck" turn as Axis and get knocked out. (the Allies can survive a hit or two of bad luck)
OR the NEXT time we do it you have to play the other side in the first round [:D]
Or it could just be randomly assigned by Svend :)
