Breakdown of scenarios?

Post by TheHellPatrol »

There are three large battles covered, that we know. Are some/all of them broken down into "small" or "medium" plus the "whole" battle as in BiN? How many battles are there?

We've chosen to cover the three major battles, Sicily, Salerno and Anzio as we think these constitute the most exciting moments of the Italian Campaign on the Decisive Battles scale.

The Sicily scenario, Operation Husky, is probably the best to start with, since the Allies cannot be prevented from landing and get a turn or two to sort themselves out.

The other two battles are pretty intense struggles right from the outset and require firm nerves and clear decision making from both players.

Given that we had three major battles that we could concentrate on, rather than just the one battle as in Normandy, we felt that we were providing plenty of value in the package. However, the stalwart Decisive Battles scenario creators will undoubtedly be able to create hypothetical or alternative scenarios, especially as they have such a huge map to go to work on.

[:D]I see...you are giving us three major/important battles, on a map that can be 12 times bigger than BiN, as opposed to broken down chunks as seen in Normandy. That is superb...three major scenarios and yes you ARE providing plenty of value(and have[;)]) in this case. I am really looking forward to this as i love playing as the Axis defender which can only really be enjoyed with a Decisive Battles series game eg:Ai is as good or better as the attacker[8D].

I must admit that I gave Normandy a pass; couldn't face fighting in the bocage yet again; but this game has really gotten me excited. Definite buy!

Can you start the game with either of the three scenarios and play a campaign through to the end of the game time scope?

Or does each scenario have its own non-overlapping end point?

What is the historical time scope for the game (when does it end)?

Thanks.

Also how do the Commonwealth factor in? From screen shots it looks like the action from the toe to the north is covered too? Is Casino built into the Salerno campaign?
