panthers wont start!!

hi guys

Just down loaded SPWAW v8.0 after a 2 year break from the game!! Everything is installed on my PC, however the game wont start!! Get the intro screen and can use all the links, just cant play the game!! Any suggestions would be welcome, running XP.
Just need to get the panzers rolling, facing summary execution for not killing bolshieviks!!

Al hav u tried it fm mech.exe in the Spwaw Folder ? Do you have a sound board/card ? What resolution are you using ? Off the top of my hard head, hope it helps. Good Luck[:D] and welcome back to the forum.[8D]

Thanks for the reply, resolution as suggested. not sure on sound card type, but do have one!! May have to buy a CD! Have now reinstalled from different sites and it still dont want work. Am going to try the big stick approach!!!!!

Al are you using WinXP ? If you say Win 2000 I wish you luck. If XP try compatibility mode. Do you have Direct X 9 installed ?

I got the same. With windows xp.
to me it's a game bug.

the game won't start whatever i do.

Did you both try starting it from the mech.exe in the games install directory?

You were right, Marc, that .exe was the only one which could open the game.
by skipping the intro panel, the game work error free now.
thanks a lot. i even chenge that .exe icon with the right spwaw one.

now since i'm really a newbie i got problem getting started.
i lack the game manual and have problem undertstanding the game mechenichs.

s, if you have a normal spwaw installation there should be a shortcut in the start menu for game manual. If not, look at the main spwaw folder and see if you have 'spwaw-manual.pdf' file in it.
This very helpful manual is worth reading *and* it gives instructions to play through the 9 tutorial scenarios that are included in the 8.2 version of spwaw.
