Windows 10

Post by mesquite5 »

So I just bought this game during the sale. When I try to run it the mouse pointer disappears and I get a blank box. I'm running Windows 10. Is there a way to get this to work, or did I waste my money?
I've tried running in compatibility mode for Vista, Windows XP and Win 7. With Vista and XP mode I get an active x can't create object error.

Well, I'm a bit hesitant about running a program that right from the git go says it a is a Windows breaker. So I buy this game from Matrix and have to risk my whole operating system to run it? That isn't really acceptable. I'd rather just get my money back or a fix that allows me to run this program without risking my whole set up. As far as Nvidia drivers...well, I keep them updated regularly and have not problems with any other programs...which well, I'm addicted to buying computer games and have hundreds. I'd really rather have a fix for this game as I've eyed it for years. If this game doesn't work on Windows 10, then it should be advertised. I do understand that what caused problems on one setup might not cause a problem on another. I'm looking for an answer that doesn't risk me having to reinstall my whole system. Thanks for your suggestions though.

not sure you understand my post, most games, like 99% will work with windows 10 fine, with no issues, but again maybe 50% will need parts that are either missing or included with windows 10, but not installed by default,

take it this way, windows 10 is the best supported gaming platform ever released from M/S so far, and includes almost everything to make it backwards compatible with games which weren't out when windows 10 was made, it's easier to add in the parts that's missing which are mostly included with windows 10 btw, so my guide already says, your not adding 3rd party stuff, just stuff that's already in windows 10, and made for and fully supported and works with windows 10, just not included or installed by default

so you have to install them manually

if you wish to not do this, then that's your call, but as most games will ow install stuff that does't come with windows 10 and are called pre requisites etc, and most install them with not a second thought, i find your reply somewhat odd, but like i said, again it's your call and i'm happy to offer my advice if you wish, or if you don't wish to buy also, i'm fine with that also, there are no risks to doing as i suggest, as there windows 10 own files, which come pre installed on windows 10, but not configured to run etc

hey, well I appreciate your comments. I probably need to look over your third suggestion more carefully. The window resizing program right up front says it has a reputation as a Windows breaker. The other suggestions seem much more tame. Anyway, I'll look into them and I do appreciate your advice!

for me my links are what made it works for me, as well as having the pre requites and also installing and running as admin, so far 99% of all game here work for windows 10

there maybe some hardware configuration which won't let a given / certain hardware run it, but most of that time, it wouldn't work on the same hardware for win 7 or 8 either

What I get when I try to run Max Football is a runtime error that says interface not registered. This game worked on every other operating system I've had, just not Win 10. I tried in every compatibility mode possible. Is there is simple fix to this?

Ok it may not be supported. But, there were people that got it to work on Win 10. I know this due to a message board I used to frequent before I had Win 10. Unfortunately that site shut down and now I can't go back to see what they did.

i haven't got the game so can't try either, or i'd post a guide on how to etc, as that's what i do, find ways and prove a given game does or doesn't work etc, as most do, just some need a few more items added than others, or in a different order etc[:(]

Hey no problem. I can clearly see you try to help. I used to do the same with Fbpro98 when it came out and people had problems. I'm usually pretty good with this stuff and can get almost anything to work. But this just has me stumped. Because even when I run it in XP mode, or WIN98 mode, it still has the same issue. So I know it isn't a true XP or 98 mode. But hey, I could always load it to an older laptop I have if I want to play the game. Thanks anyway.

Hi Ragnar070,

Ive been running Maximum Football 2.0 full screen in Windows 10 for a couple years now, But with a help of a third party utility which is mentioned on this thread. I don't have any problems at all, except some of the glitches the game itself will rarely gives.

Thanks local, but I can't even run it in window mode. I don't get an error anymore, but a small window pops up top left and remains blank. A frozen white box. I get to window mode by putting a -window at the end of the target line. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Ragnar070,

I don't quite follow about putting a -window at the end of the target line.
I have always have done what the game developer has instructed us many years ago by:

1. Make a New Blank Text Document and rename it windowmode.txt (No contents inside the document.)
2. Place the windowmode.txt on to the Maximum Football Game Folder. (Where your game is installed.)

Other than that, I just don't know.
Good Luck....

Yes I did. I just got that screen resizer and put in my screen size under the two 0s. I even did the ctrl, alt, del, cancel, to clear things up. How on earth did you figure that out? It's running as smooth as silk.
