War in the East Beta Update 1.11.03

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

War in the East Beta Update 1.11.03

Post by SamSlitherine »

Hi Everyone,

War in the East has a new update available for you!

The update will be available for download from the Members Area as well as the Public Download Area.

Please see below for the full list of changes in this version.

New Features

1. Reworked New Feature #5 from 1.11.02. Air groups will have their own national morale level, based on regular national morale increased by 5. There will be also the following modifiers: +10 for German air groups before 1943, +5 for German air groups before 1945, +5 for Finnish air groups, +10 for Soviet Guards air groups. This value can never be lower than 25, and higher than 99. Air group national morale will be seen next to air group morale on air group details screen.
a) Morale and experience of newly built Soviet air groups will be equal to 75% of current Soviet air group national morale.
b) Morale increase for air groups sent to reserve will be equal to 50% of their morale distance towards national morale (rounding up).
c) Immediate morale increase for Soviet air groups becoming Guards will be equal to 10.

Bug Fixes

1. Fixed a bug where it was possible to regain APs spent on HQ buildup by timing it properly with an undoable action and using the undo function.
2. Fixed a bug where it was impossible to enter password for the first time in a new PBEM game.

Happy Gaming!

Wahoo! thank you for the very quick service on these fixes. Although in my one game as the Germans I only managed to get a couple of turns in against the 1.11.02 nerfed Red Air Force [:D]

In land battles, in which the attacker lost, there will be no morale changes for either attacker or defender.

Is that fair ?

In the members downloads it is listed as

v.1.11.01 (13 JUN 2018)

Is this 1.11.03?
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

Thank you for the quick update [:)]

BTW, do you guys have an issue with AT-rifle(infantry) as the Soviets? in My game, even though there is a demand for over 2000 of these elements, the game is NOT producing a single 1.

you can see this clearly with the Cavalry.
NOTE: the game started from version 1.11.1 if not mistaken, in case that helps.

EDIT: ha yes, I checked the Equipment menu, AT-rifles are introduced in October 1941
felt a bit weird to have incomplete Cav at 75ish% because of lack of AT-rifles, ho well.

Thanks Denniss for your work...by the way any idea when WITE2 may poke its noise over the horizon.

I think I found one serious bug in the Beta as the Soviets, it seams my industry in Molotov is being Deleted!
Game Version 1.11.03 Steam.

Turn 13, everything is Normal, Total Armaments = 363, H.Industry = 229.

Turn 14, all my Industry is gone! however the game still seams to track 1 of each, as the Production screen shows.

Turn 15, the industry resets to 1, so the named factories still expand, but I did lose the (4)separate Heavy Industry.
EDIT: all the manpower was deleted as well!!

here are my saved games:

I'm already at turn 15, honestly, the lost Industry isn't that much of a loss, I'm just worried it might happen again and someplace else.
If you can somehow reassure me that the bug won't bother me again, that would be lovely.

Downloading wasn't easy (Dropbox was showing proper page for a second and then went blank), but I got them. I will check what it is.

The new air tools of "Morale Under" and "Experience Under" really helps with the micro on the air force, thanks for that!

I would like to suggest a new option about fatigue, a "fatigue over", I think it will help a lot with an offensive air force.

Sadly this didn't repeat for me when I started from the T13 save. This means it won't be easy to hunt this bug down. Can you replicate it somehow?

When I tried it again from T13, it also didn't replicate, I Don't know why, maybe it needs to receive a certain evacuated Industry?

But I only evacuated the airplanes factories to Molotov in turn 10... maybe that will help?

I will post a save for turn 10, not sure what to do other then that.

Do you still have the Axis autosave made between your T13 and T14 saves ?

After even more time spent on checking this issue, I didn't found a solution. Some factories were erased completely, while others remained, albeit reduced to 0 size and 0 damage. There's just a few instances where factories are erased in code, and in all cases factory type is erased along size and damage. And structure layout with no data lost inbetween erased values prevents this being an out-of-bounds memory erasure.

I'm wondering if we are not suppose to have Night fighters escorts?

in the same game I had the Molotov problem, I'm using the U2 in night missions to help destroy the Finish air force, I've got some Pe3 night Fighters to escort then but they won't show up in the mission screen.

If the U2 are in range, then sure the Pe3 are as well, so what gives?
Night F escorts is no longer a thing?

well, Night bombing airfields sucks, 100 U2-VS and it damaged only 1 bomber! (I checked on message level 5), there were only 40 total planes there, but might as well keep trying to find out what works, not like I care for loses on U2.
