Catastrophic event at Sendai

Post by Alpha77 »

I noted last turn this damage to light ind and resources at Sendai. No Allied came near that city, for sure I am missing something obvious or is this some earthquake event build in as script [;)]

Went back 10 turns and it was already damaged, but at game start is at 100%.

Wow. Looks like an earthquake if I didn't know better.

My thoughts when I found out that Fuku is in the same prefacture (sp?) like Sendai, but Fuku is nearer to Iwaki

It looks to me like the LI got massively resized. Not sure about the Resources.
What scenario is this?

Here is Sendai in my game on 1/5/42. I have a theory. You were looking at the industry screen on Sendai, you nodded off and your nose depressed the left mouse button increasing your expansion of LI there.

Drop your supply requirement to 2,000 and stop this madness now!

Just turn repair off at Sendai. There's no justification I can think of for increasing LI there at all, let alone by that amount. And resources? You've got those coming out of your ears in Manchukuo, Korea, Hokkaido and Sakhalin.

Increasing LI in Honshu requires shipping more resources to Honshu and eats supply. Producing more resources in Honshu in order to avoid shipping resources to Honshu also eats supply. Increasing LI in Manchukuo eats some supply but reduces the necessity to ship resources to Honshu. Increase LI in Manchukuo, but do so carefully and slowly. There is no reason anywhere on the planet to increase resource production by expending supply. Japan will never have the ability to process all the resources on hand to her. Increasing resource production is a fundamental error that will have wide repercussions throughout the Empire.

Offboard feline artillery. Much more prevalent in board games, but can do damage with a good keyboard strike.

looks like a glitch, there's no possibility to expand resource production and Sendai starts with much less than that.

There *were* a few sizeable earthquakes in Japan during the war, including a few doozies in 1943, 1944 and 1945:

Here is a slightly smaller one that didn't make the cut, but would likely have been damaging:

You know, gents, the possibility that we're experiencing a "Knavey" moment hasn't escaped me.

Alpha77-is this game "borked"? [;)]

What is the date in your game?

Doesn't explain the Resources being damaged, which is likewise much higher than in your screenshot.

I think y'all fret about nothing important, OP is probably playing some mod with beefed up Japan.
I'm 100% sure OP was surprised with large scale industry damage, not with what might look like additional industry spawning.

Right, but in a mod with a beefed up Japan... would the resources really start damaged?

Maybe if the OP would give out some more info, someone could explain what has happened.

I did no LI expansion in the home islands at all and resources can not be expanded.

This is scen2 in Oct. 42, I noted at start both industries start much lower, no idea how it got that high.
Which was the reason for the thread, not that I missclicked "expand" (which in fact could have been the case perhaps with the LI but not the res) [;)]

Edit, at start in scen2 it is res 90 and LI 70...

In fact at first I thought something destroyed my LI/RES there (this is why I named it catastrophe) but it now turns out that something expanded my industries there much over the starting value - which in case of the LI could be player error - yes, but not in case of the resources (right?)
