Lord Buckethead pipped at the post

Post by Neilster »

Lord Buckethead, a caped, self-proclaimed “intergalactic space lord” has just failed to win the constituency of Maidenhead after getting 249 votes to Prime Minister Theresa May's 37,000 or so. This may or may not be the same Lord Buckethead who unsuccessfully took on Margaret Thatcher in 1987 and John Major in 1992.

One of the great things about British elections is that the serious candidates have to share the stage with some loon like this as the results are announced. It should be compulsory in democracies everywhere [:)]

Like the slave on Roman Chariots as victorious generals marched through Rome, constantly telling them "tyou are only human". Or words to that effect.

The black-painted cricket pads are a nice touch. I like how when previously he was asked to remove his helmet at the result announcement, he said he couldn't, as it was his real head [:D]

Only 249 votes? The poor guy can't get any respect!

I like the guy to his left checking out the blondes rack.

Well, I applaud that sort of thing but I think he's looking at the (almost obscured) Howling Laud Hope of the Monster Raving Loony Party, who received 119 votes.

There is an episode of "Black Mirror" with a similar theme.
"Yes darling, I served in the Navy for eight years. I was a cook..."
"Oh dad... so you were a God-damned cook?"

The full picture of the election result is even wierder. Seems the bloke in the black helmet was not the only somewhat *unusual* individual:

It's no coincidence that 'MP' stands for both Member of Parliament and Monty Python.

That's outstanding, but calling May a loon is a bit harsh don't you think?

There used to be a Rhinoceros party in Canada years ago. They promised to eliminate inflation AND unemployment by abolishing the statistics bureau!
